Also, had some time to think about some routes for a drive. These are some I've done and some that look decent road conditions, traffic, twistie and time wise.

Most start in Boston since I think it would be a good meeting point somewhat but of course we can plan otherwise.

Rt 1/1A to Kittery, ME
~2hr drive each way
Stuff to do along the way, good views, city at each end for shopping/stopping
http://bit.ly/ho0Bl3

Rt 1A -> 127 to Halibut Point
1.5hr each way
Nice views of ocean and such. Plenty of stopping points along the way.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Lets plan for early/mid May?

those look great, I do those same cruises all the time on my own pretty much.
Then again I have a place in Maine so I am always going through or just past Kittery.

We should get a head count for who would like to do this. Of course naturally I'm in

EDIT: Anything after the 14th of May is good for me, before then no go

May 21st looks like a good date then. Who is in? I think we can/should open it up to non MINI rides too, just for a sake of a larger group?

Does anyone in Boston know a good place for tinting the MINI? What prices are we looking at?

I need to know the same. Seems like there are a lot of places around but not really in Boston/Brookline.

You can put me down as a maybe. May 21 works perfectly for me, and both trips look like fun.

both are worthy routes IMHO, and I would be delighted to participate unless my calendar prevents it.

Cheers,

I got a quote from him today and it's $230. I'm looking to do both windows, the rear quarter windows and rear windshield. I heard really good things about him, but I hear a tint job for a MINI should be under $200? Maybe if cgaubuchon went with me, we can get a deal

I have a friend that drives by a tint shop in Malden called Auto Tuners, who only wanted $149 for the same tint job. But I won't be going to them because I read their online reviews and some forums members also said they do a bad job and have a bad attitude.

The last place I contacted was EastSideMotoring who is known for doing tinting for cars that belong to Ray Allen (Boston Celtics.) I haven't heard back from him yet, but it may be expensive. I've met the owner of the shop before, Lorenzo, really nice guy. If anyone else is interested, let me know, I can see if I can get a group rate?

I'd be interested in some 35% tint all the way around if we can get a really good priced group buy. I also have no interest in paying $230 for tints

I know a place called driven perfection and I just shot them a message and i'll let you know what they cost and if they can do a group buy, I think they are located in framingham though but they are top notch.

Also I gloss blacked vinyled the chrome rings around the tail lamps tonight, looks good

I'm gonna call up Tint King tomorrow and see if I can get the price closer to $200. I have a friend with the RX8 whose going to do it too, so I'm gonna see if he can do it for $200 if I bring in 2 cars. I can also ask them about group rates too and see what they say.

Id be down on going too if you can get it under $200 for good quality tint. Dont mind paying more for the good stuff. Let me/us know and we can plan a date.

Damn, I want tints but I feel like $200 is a lot, plus this is the worst week for doing anything that is not school work in my 4 years of college.

Oh I know, but those 11's are quick. But I was thinking... it only had 6k on it where as mines at 33.5k so I'm thinking that it will feel about the same around the same mileage once it gets there.

I'm sure that these engines are all coked up in the head and its really effecting performance more than people realized because they don't have something to compare it to like I did now.

I'm going to do a full sea foam soon and we'll see how it feels then, but I'd love to pull the head and clean it back down to bare clean surface metal and even port and polish the intake and exhaust valves. I've seen pictures of the inside casting and it is rough in there

Also continuing with a theme here I black gloss vinyled the interior door pulls tonight, Looks great!

$200 is a bit above average. But I hear really good things about Tint-King in other forums. He's also done come celebrity cars and uses very good quality film. It's also backed up by a lifetime warranty against defects such as wrinkles, fading, bubbled or lifts. See you guys there!

So continuing with a theme last night I installed the Alta Panel filter and today I installed my JCW intake tube (story involved in this one) and the BSH OCC

For the JCW tube, the intake on the turbo is a little bigger, only a hair. so when I went to put everything back together I was tightening it up and I tightned it too much and snapped the hose clamp!!
I was freaking out, No car, no clamps that fit, None in stock at either Boston or Peabody can't say anything to my dad cause he would flip if he knew I was changing things around...

Eventually I got one from home depot and it seems to be working but I am going to buy the actual one next week when the get it in stock.

Impressions.
The panel filter seems to give ever so slightly a little more kick but more noise (good ones) and the now that I put the JCW tube on I feel like it kicks a little harder earlier now, boost building aprox 200 rpm quicker is what people have said.

so far, cool
