Boston heads... check in
Not a bad deal but I take satisfaction in taking care of my car and doing it my self.
Plus! I'm thinking about making some flyers for spring detailing and dropping them off around my neighborhood to stir up some cash

Hey, Cgaubuchon, when you get those on your car you either gotta take me for a ride or let my try them. Im looking to get some summers myself and those look like the best bet but I'd love to try before I buy.
They look so nice btw.
Looking to get those plus a set of the Enkei PF-01' too.
EDIT: AHHHHHHH $1700 for the set up!

Welcome, what you driving and where abouts?
How is the cai sound and performance wise? I am waiting a bit to put mine in for when I get more time. How was the install?
Yeah, I put mine on the softest setting if I remember correctly since they sent me the 22 instead of the 19 I wanted. I can feel the difference and I lift the rear inner wheel when turning into a garage or steep entrances. Not really a problem, but sometimes annoying in the city. Like the added stiffness though for sure.
check out what I did tonight.
Black headlight rings... more to come possibly

I also got a ding in the WIT parking lot right in the middle of my passenger door
When I find the person responsible, I will have my revenge

I am also going to wrap my lower plastic trim in the same gloss black to match the roof and pillars. I'm trying to get away from the plastic-ness of the car.
Peter, Where did you get the vinyl and how much did it take to wrap the rings? I am very tempted to black out in the near future. Looks like you did a very nice job too, did you need high heat? Hair dryer type heat would work?
On another note:
Put in my Alta CAI in today, took about 15-20 mins and sounds amazing. Of course im sure it took a hit on my MPG but I think its worth it. Warm weather needs to be here now.

Got cabin fever and took a drive through the city on all the 'fast' roads (storrow in allston and soldiers field) to get a feel for the new CAI sound. Ended up washing with Hydo and some of my new detailing stuff before making it home, parking, turning around with a super wide grin. Love. this. car.
Decided next will be dark tint and matte blackout.

any interest in a Mini Autocross Day here folks? Can I tempt you?
Dear Boston Heads,
I'd be delighted to welcome any and all Mini owners at a NER Autocross event this year. If you've never tried an autocross, you cannot imagine how much fun it is.
1. It doesn't hurt the car - really! All you need is good tire pressures, and nothing loose within the car. NER has loaner helmets.
2. It isn't scary (all though it IS an adrenaline rush) because you will be in 2nd gear on course with most corners at 30-40 mph. There are only cones to hit if you make a mistake, and they don't hurt. Ask me how I know
3. I'd be glad to course walk with you, and answer any and all questions you might have. If you want to, you can get a top driver to help you on course by riding in the right seat as an instructor.
4. If you are a registered driver, I'd be glad to take you on course in my STX Mini and show you what (little) I've learned in the last six years of being hooked on the sport.
5. NER runs at Moore Airfield (Fort Devens - Ayer, MA) which allows long courses and provides lots of room for autocross. We also run a couple of events at the NHMS VIP Parking Lot up at Laconia NH, which is a shorter and more compact course with lower speeds.
6. This can be and should be a family day, with friends and significant others. No alcoholic beverages on site of course, but picnics work well.
7. The NER event schedule can be found at http://www.ner.org, but the earliest event is April 10th at Devens. We have about 10 events per year so there are many options for the date.
Last year we had a Camaro Club (all late model, high HP cars) that came out to join us, and they had a ton of fun. Surely us Mini addicts could try it?
I'll keep an eye on the responses, and if there is interest I'd be glad to start a separate thread and help orchestrate.
Just a thought y'all...
Cheers,
Charlie

Sorry for late reply but I got the material from Keith @ Wap Solutions in Reading.

I did it my self with a regular heat gun, Although I'm sure that you could use a hair dryer too. It might be better because I almost burned my self a few times with the heat gun
the stuff gets really soft with the heat applied.I used for each headlight maybe about 12"x16" (?) of matieral. I know it was 12" in width but the length I forget, I didn't measure it, I kinda just went at it. But you may want to use a little more because I found that I had just barely enough.

yeah I am hoping the sign shop nearby me can sell me some vinyl so I can do this and not have to wait and order it online. Seems like most places close around 5 and I get off work at 6...sucks haha.
I'm definitely interested in coming out. I'd be a first timer, so those loner helmets and perhaps some tips would be awesome!
