Fs: 2004 Vw R32
Fs: 2004 Vw R32
I am purchasing an '03 Mini Cooper S, and as a result I am forced to sell my '04 VW R32. My company is giving me a nice car allowance, and the payment for me to purchase the Mini is the same as what I'm paying to lease the R32. As long as someone else is making my car payment for me, I might as well BUY something, right?
The R32 is Reflex Silver (bright silver) with Black Leather. Leather was the only option available on the car. Here are some specifics:
10,500 miles
All-wheel drive
6-speed manual transmission
Power moonroof
Power windows
Power locks
Keyless entry
Cruise control
Automatic climate control
18" wheels
Heated leather seats
Rain-sensing windshield wipers
Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
Trip computer
Lots of other stuff...
The car is in fantastic shape. It is garage kept and no expense was spared in its maintenance. The original MSRP was $30,625 and many were sold for that price. I am only looking to sell the car at my current lease payoff amount of $25,500.
I realize that most of you are in love with your Minis (as I'm sure I will be), but if you know of anyone looking for a KILLER car for $25K, please send them my way. They can e-mail me at mailto:jbaraga@computersarebad.com or call me at 724-825-0939.

you should post this on www.vwvortex.com, or www.audiworld.com. I am sure places like that will get bites really fast. that is a great price for an R32. Maybe also post it on www.clubb5.com.
good luck with the sale.

Thanks, Jon!
I have a post on VWVortex, but as a former banner advertiser there, I have found that there are many more tire kickers than serious buyers. Also, they all know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who bought the exact car for thousands less than you're selling it for.
I also have a post in the AudiWorld Classifieds, in addition to my local paper and AutoTrader. For as great as the internet is, I've had much better luck advertising my last couple of cars in the local paper.
The price certainly seems fair to me...hopefully I'll get some bites soon.

Let me know if you regret doing that, I'm very curious. I would love an R32, but no way in hell I'm giving up my S for one. Im trying to convince the mrs. to get one, but its not working.
...give ya 20 g's for it??
Good luck with the sale, and I agree, that is why i stay away from VWVortex at all costs. I pretty much stay on Audiworld and our locol fourm, www.rmcb5.com. People on forums can be a drag, and the Tex is known for that.
My neighbot has a black one, and she drives the snot out of it. I love the exhaust note from those...and it is stock!!! Great package for the money, and for your price, you should do well.

Wow...that was fast.
I advertised my R32 in the local Sunday paper. Got my first call at 2:30, showed the car to the interested party at 4:30...SOLD for my asking price.
The car is leased, so now I need to figure out the specifics of selling a leased vehicle to a private party. I was thinking of using a service like escrow.com - does anyone have a recommendation for a different service?

congrats on the sale. I would contact the lease company and see what it costs to buy it outright at this moment, and what the process is. I am assuming you have a lease through VW? they are pretty easy to deal with. In my divorce, my ex took over the payments and transfered the title of our Beetle Turbo S, they re-worked the entire deal, so she could take advantage of the money we already put into it, and the almost 2 years of payments I made already...she then transfered the remaining balance into a 5 year payement plan... They were more than helpful, so I can only assume that they will let you purchase the remainder of the lease and will send you the title.
Not sure about any of the other online sites...I just go to the horses mouth, usually the best way in my opinion.
Again, congrats, I knew it would go quickly!!
cheers

RE: selling a car you don't have title to. You could be in for a few weeks of waiting to get the title even after the car is paid off. Talk to whoeve holds the lease. Also, you might talk to the DMV to find out what is needed for the buyer to register the car. That title could be a thorn in your side for a bit.
Thanks to all.
The titling problem is turning into no problem at all. Here's the way it's working for any who may run into this at some point...
I made an agreement with the buyer that he would send a certified check to VW Credit in the amount of our agreed-upon price and I would send a certified check along with it in the amount of the difference between our price and the payoff amount, thus satisfying the total payoff amount for the lease. Upon the receipt of certified funds, VCI issues the title immediately.
We arranged to have the car stored (sans license plate) in a locked, heated garage at his company until the title arrives. VCI allows me to specify that the title be mailed to ANYONE, although it will be in my name. The title will be mailed to the buyer, and at that time he and I will arrange the transfer of the title into his name.
It's an unconventional setup, but I only realized after showing him the vehicle and taking him for a test drive that the he owns the insurance agency where I got my homeowner's policy. He and I have spoken a few times on the phone and he remembered where I live, despite the fact that we haven't talked for probably 2 years. His name sounded vaguely familiar, but it took a few minutes for me to connect the dots.
Long story short, it's working out in a way that's completely acceptable to both of us. I made arrangements to pick up my Mini on Monday, Nov. 15 and the wait is killing me.
