Sure they've go 20 in stock. They also want 15% over list. Then they load them up with "partial packages" i.e. they ordered allmost all the options in the packages individualy so no savings would be realized and they could charge more. What a bunch of crooks.

My buddy here at worked called them. He want's an S like mine.

He tried to be reasonable and deal with them....allowing them some room to price the S over sticker....they said in an email to him.....

"no deal".

That was it. No wonder they have a lot full.

I hope people like this are rewarded at some point in their lives, in kind.

On the second day of your 'Not so Grand Opening' I drove up to see your Mini's. To my surprise I found that you are one of the HIGHEST PRICED LOTS IN ALL of SO-CAL.
You guys did not follow your list....
You did not bother to call anyone waiting on your list and let them know the scoop concerning the delayed opening of your lot.
You add on 'CASH Mark-ups' along with the dealer added items.

It's no wonder you have 20 MCS's on the lot.
How many MCooper's do you have too?

I was the one who first told you about MCOnline. I warned you that the word would spread quickly on this site. Now that all of the folks who have enough money to spend at your lot have done so....You are left with OVERSTOCK!!!

I advise all people who ask me where I got my Mini to travel up to Irvine or Long Beach. I will do so until I have seen things change w/ you guys first hand, and I am a regular visitor to your lot.
Best of luck selling those poor lonely Mini's.

Hey Jason

Looks like you all got what you deserved! You all have cruddy customer service according to people on the MINI boards and you mark your prices way up!

I hope you sit on your extra stock of MINIs for the next 100 years and get stuck with them. I'm enjoying my car that I paid MSRP for and didn't get stuck with any cheesy or unwanted dealer add-ons. Companies like yours make me sick.

hey jason

it sounds like you're collecting them to me. just out of curiousity, if i buy one of your MC's for five bills over MSRP will i get that money back in a few years when i trade the car in. DON'T THINK SO. how come you guys are so greedy? wouldn't you like to build long term relationships. but, wait. i suddenly realized, no you guys are out for the quick buck. screw-em and then run away before they can do anything.

wait you wanted a reasonable offer. okay, you seem to think that $5,000 over MSRP is reasonable. so here's my offer. i'll buy all 20 MCS's for $5,000 under what you paid for the car.

good luck with the mini's, i hope you choke on them.

Blame it on So California, that place is all about money, it's in their nature. I suggest and if you have the means, come to NY and head over to Westchester Mini, they sell their cars at MSRP and have an outstanding staff to boot.

Don't even need to go as far as NY for MSRP. If you're on the west coast... just go to MINI of Murray in Salt Lake City, Utah. They charge MSRP with NO dealer add-ons. And their wait list isn't that terribly long.

High Anxiety is right, I live just round the corner from Mini of Murray and I don't even have a deposit as of yet, and I visit the lot frequently, and have had 2 test drives with them knowing fully that I do not have the money yet, but very close. I would much rather wait 6 months for my DS MCS and have built to my excact specs and have only 2 miles on it when delivered, and it'll be a 2003, than give crooks like these greed ba@#!rds my hard earned money.

I totally agree with High Anxiety and Owen#10. Mini of Murray in SLC has been great so far. MSRP when my Mini arrives and no add-ons. As a bonus, the wait for a base Cooper seems to be quite short: I put my deposit down 8/1 and as of today my estimated build is 9/6...not bad

I visited Brecht MINI a couple weeks ago. It was a Tuesday around noon and I was the only customer there. Plenty of MINIs on the lot, but no buyers. I personally don't think that the outrageous markups will last at Brecht. It might fly for a while at a dealership in Los Angeles, but San Diego is not Los Angeles. It appears they'll have to learn the hard way. Even if they change their ways, I would be very leery to purchase from a dealer that started out with these tactics.

They have a website now at Brecht MINI

Just think if they sold at MSRP. They'd have many more MINIs on the road in San Diego with satisfied customers driving them. Those customers would be sending everybody who asked about the car to the only dealer in town. Great advertising! Instead, many people on this site will go elsewhere for a MINI and tell their friends to do the same.

Ron

Not to defend the Escondido dealer (I've never visited there), but if they're "only" charging 15% over MSRP, that makes them one of the lowest price SoCal dealers I've encountered! When I surveyed 5 or 6 dealers, all but Long Beach MINI were asking $3450- $6000 over list! Are you folks saying that if you show up in person at the other dealers, you can get them to drop the "premiums"? I'd personally just given up and decided I'd wait the 6-8 months at Long Beach.... are there other SoCal dealers that sell for near MSRP?

No there are not other dealers selling at MSRP, however, Brecht never kept thier word about anything. The 15% mark-up only applies to the "market adjustment" then they add Lo-jack, paint protection, etc etc etc... The price is way above the 15%!!!!!!! I was on both (Crevier and Brecht, Brecht being my hometown choice)interest lists for a mini. THE day minis went up for sale I got a call from Martin at Crevier. He has called me repeatedly to try to sell me a car at a premium. He knows I don't want to pay a premium. He still calls, he still is polite, and even though he's not going to get the sale he's nice about things.

Brecht, on the other hand, has never called me, emailed me, sent me a note, or any other form of communication about their opening and sale of minis. Then when I took a drive up to see when they'd be available(to Brecht BMW), the sales people acted like I had the plague when they found out I wanted to buy a mini. Brecht is snobbery at its' very best. I even called and talked to David yesterday and asked him what they would consider a reasonable offer and his statement was in effect "pay our price". It's not a way to build a business.

sorry david g.
you are mis-informed.
Brecht is carging 'CASH' mark-ups. Plus dealer-added 'mark-up' add ons, that can raise the price anywhere from the standard 1,500k to 5,000k over msrp.
This car is no Z8.
We have given out other options here at MCO. Buy from them if you like,

Again, since the only info I had was from MCO, I was really just trying to find out what the problem was "specifically" with Brecht. I came across two other LA dealers that were charging higher premiums; even than the number you quote above. One of them was later willing to be talked from $6K down to $3K over MSRP. I still wasn't ready to go for that deal (for a number of reasons, including options, etc).

It sounds, though, that Brecht's attitude (and lack of customer care) was the thing that really set people off. And I can certainly understand that!

Haven't gotten my MCS yet but...a fellow teacher at school used priceline and got a MC for under retail (I think only a hundred under). And I've had good luck with high demand cars on priceline as well.
Good price and service seem to be the exception these days, , but I know I will patronize and stay loyal to dealers who treat me right.

Jason:
I have nothing against you, but I was in your dealership in April, and received nothing by way of attention or customer service. I was in the market for a MCS for my brother, and when I finally got to the salesman after he had finished a personal phone call, I could not even get a price out of him. I know Mini's - I had mine allocated and on order for a long time. The bs I got from you guys was insulting. You were not competitive on price, and above all appeared to rest on the demand for the car to pull out the required sales with minimum effort or customer service. I understand that San Diego has less dealers than LA, but LA is a quick 2 hour drive, and the service is probably better from what I am hearing.
As a MCS owner, I wish you sucess for the good of the brand, but you need to get your act together if you want to sell cars. Remember, the Mini buyer is passionate about the car, and as such deserves a different level of service and attention.

paint and interior proptection/Perma-Plate ( aka wax job and scotchgard) I used to work at a dealer here locally when I was in highschool its all BS
