Birchwood is mailing out the invitations today so if you purchased your car there, you will be getting it soon. I wonder how many will show up?

I now know for sure I will be working that day. Plus I have another issue, my MINI and I went into a very deep ditch last weekend. The ditch was full of brush, and almost every piece of black plastic was ripped off the car. No body damage, but Poco will still be in the shop for another 2 weeks or so.
It was a very wild ride knocking down all that brush, and going through a 10 foot deep ditch, but the little guy is tough, and I walked away without a scratch.

Ouch, ouch, and Ouch! :-(

So can you tell us why your MINI decided to attempt becoming a Humvee in that ditch? (Very glad to hear that you are OK...)

Yikes! That sucks Mark! Glad to hear you're okay MINI saved the day.

You can come in another vehicle if you'd like ....just camoflauge it with bonnet stripes

Thanks JCW.

It would take more than bonnet stripes to make a corrola a MINI

As to what happened to Poco and I. Motoring on fresh ungraded gravel, going about 60kph and the back end went out, the right front wheel went into a ridge of gravel and off we went into the ditch. Ditch was about 10 feet(3 meters) deep, very steep and full of brush.

Ripped off almost all the black trim, punched a hole in the rad, but no body damage. I should get him back in about 2 weeks.

Here is the ditch

Ok, since Poco got scuffed anyways, now is the perfect time to get all the black plastic color matched to the car. When one door closes, another one always opens

Tomorrow is the big day!!!!

Mark - if you can get out of work come with whatever you're driving...you still have POCO in your heart!

We should have 25 cars there and about 60 people...not bad for a nice summer day!

Expecting lots of fun

Hi Mark...

Over four years plus, I can't say that I've ever seen anything wrong with Birchwood BMW/MINI Winnipeg...

My mailed invitation to the event arrived last Tuesday (but then I already knew about it from this forum). Maybe it's fairer to say that Canada Post sucks .

My wife will accompany me tomorrow, but I am more than willing to ride in the back seat some of the time as part of a team effort on this rally. Two navigators can only be an advantage on this thing...

We diligently went out today and bought not one but two Winnipeg street maps (one in booklet form, one big foldout one), a paperback "Oxford University Press Concise Candadian English Dictionary" and some goodies to bring along in the cooler.

Will we see you tomorrow? (Hint: look for a red Cooper, license DTL 568)

Check these out

Thanks Karl!

I will post more on the Rally (winners, cool MINI poems, MINI stories etc.) in the next few days...really busy with things at work - spending the week promoting Speedworld at St. Vital Mall (ALL DAY!:impatient ) so time is short!

What I will say is a HUGE THANK YOU to Karl & MINI Karl and all the other drivers who made the day successfull! We had 22 MINIs out for the event with about 50-55 people! It was fantastic! Lots of really nice prizes too!
Thanks to:
Birchwood BMW/MINI Winnipeg for the 6 hats, 6 key fabs, 6 T's and 1 REALLY nice watch (Congrats to Corley for winning that one!) as well as the desserts and support in general!
Speedworld for the lap challenge, prizes and contributions towards costs!
www.WINNIPEGGROCERY.com for the refreshments before the rally!MMMMMmmmmm donuts!
Pony Corral Grant Park Mall for their prize donation!

And to Mark (my husband aka ICEMAN) for his patience with me...hee hee
