Just bought a NEW MINI! CR/CR JCW
OK, I'm finally able to post about our new MINI. Ordered in September from JaridP at Rasmussen MINI (Thanks J.P.!)
We had it held as a surprise to our freinds in our local MINI club, until our PDX MINI Kickoff Party (Saturday) and hadn't told anyone that we'd added a car to our driveway! It's been in the garage since November, waiting for better weather, and the club party.
I just turned 280 miles, yesterday. Whoo Hoo!
I sold our e46 M3 to get this (some say that's nuts, but as busy as I was, I didn't have time to drive it recreationally [the daily driver is an a4], and the new MINI will get used in club events, along with our black MINI, as both my wife and I will drive)
So here's the spec:
Chili Red/ Chili Red
JCW
All packages (sport/convenience/premium)
english panther leather
black piano seven dash
Anthracite headliner
mods so far:
H&R suspension
Tint
CF scoop
CF mirrors
Motegi RT5 wheels (flat black powdercoat) w/ Toyo Proxes 4 tires
Aero kit/ had it "factory style" painted
pics: (larger versions in my gallery) More photo's surely to come...

I guess it's a little less hard when you have a second one to drive. Plus the weather here has been pretty horrible anyway. 35-40 degrees and rain for the last 3 months. It finally cleared up last week. Now I wanna drive it! But at this rate it will be summer before we get it through the break in period.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a beauty!! I was wondering how I blew by you on the mileage...Im up to 1400 already!! Well man enjoy your new baby. Let me know when you get your custom plates in! Take care B!!
Way, way nice!
Granted, it's winter, you only have 280 miles on it, but I am looking forward to your impressions after break-in.
Let us all know if you end up missing the e46 M3. While my MCS was on order, I feared/dreaded that I would miss my Audi S4 (granted, not an M3). The Mini showed up three weeks early-- loved it so much that I returned my leased S4 two weeks early. And that was with an MCS. The JCW is an entirely different machine!
English leather's a great choice, too.

The difference is very noticeable and I haven't even lit it up yet. (Got to drive it another 1000 miles before I can get over 4500 rpms.)
I recently drove "shooler's" 05 MINI S with the typical 15% pulley/ exhaust/ intake mods and it felt very close to the 03 Works (with Alta CAI) we have. The car felt a touch peakier, but ostensibly on the same level as the 03 Works. The gearing in the new car really makes a difference.
The clutch action is quite different as well, between our 03 and 06.

Well, it helps that we have two.
I get to drive the other one one whenever I feel like it. That and the lightly modded Audi A4 I have, I like very much.
