springs or JCW suspension?

hi, all, need some help from you guys ! looking to get JCW suspension or just Eibach springs? i am just looking to get a stock ride with some lowering.

I have a 06 S with JCW from the factory.. i want to get everything JCW if possible, but i know they are expensive compared to just lowering springs.

Thanks!

If I had an 06 JCW, I think I would keep it all JCW. I think resale would be better later too. IMHO.

Can I ask why you want JCW over other companies? If it is warranty related I understand. Otherwise for the $$ you can do significantly better for your $900. Check out the coilover https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=62728 thread.

I personally, after my experience would avoid stock struts with lowering springs. Having done it then going to true coilovers, the ride is just incredibly better!

If you're looking for a stock ride (or better) I'd definitely consider an option that includes new shocks.

JCW kit

or

Springs (JCW, Eibach, Hsport) and Koni Gold (FSD) shocks

If money is an issue (isn't it always) and you can do your own labor, you might try just the springs first. If you don't like them, you can change the setup later and won't be out much money.

Look at it this way. Why would Michael Cooper sell a part for his kits if all the parts weren't MEANT to be working well together rather than piece mealing part from other vendors and hoping they all work together?

Just think about it and you will know the answer.

AGREED. That's what makes a good horse race

But I've always wondered, if you buy a vendor bit here and vendor bit there ... how do you really know they are all going to work well together? Thats why we have "Early Adapters"

Hello There,

It is not a good idea to install lowered springs with the factory shocks, they are not designed for that.

We offer 2 suspension kits complete with shocks and springs designed and engineered together,

The koni sport suspension kit ( koni adjustable shocks and koni lowered springs) for $799

and the Koni coil over kit for $999

Thanks

Just FYI, this is a very contentious position. I used to think it was no problem except maybe slightly shortened strut life. I do now think that the ride is not as good as a well designed integrated setup, whether that be JCW, coilovers, springs/struts.

SO though I do agree with you, many out there do not, including Randy Webb, and Eric from Helix motorsports.

Just think about it and you will know the answer.
mmmmmm lets see:

He runs a business....
businesses need to make money.....
you make money by selling parts.....

So the answer is money. I agree with those arguing for warranty reasons to do the JCW system. But you can not argue that this strut/spring system can hold a candle to coilovers from any well established German firm like Bilsteint, or H&R, or Koni. I also don't think it is all "designed as a complete system". I just don't buy it.

Now I won't ask the question back at you: Why do most club races use xxxx coilovers?

The answer of course is:
It is expensive to race cars.....
Sponsors cover expenses.....

So the answer is money

The answer is the JCW springs and dampers are designed to work with one another. The phrase 'work with' encompasses a huge subject. I've personaly driven a JCW setup and it is very very nice. The spring and damping characteristics offer substantially more control, better balance with barely a perceptible ride penalty. Is it an all-out track setup? Nope, but nor are the PSS9, the Koni adjustable coilovers, or H&R adjustable coilovers. They are ride height adjustable and allow the owner to scale his or her car, that's it. The owner is still stuck with 'their' spring and damping rates. Serious racers use custom equipement.

Cost, looks, perceived value/venue - which can be split into infinitesmal reasoning - and either good or misleading scuttlebutt here determine sales.

Everyone is in business to make money...one of the reasons some offer lowering springs - to be used with stock dampers - more than a general no, no.

The JCW kit works and is worth the price in my opinion. H-Sport springs with stock dampers, for example, a waste of money in my opinion.
