I'm with ya on this one. I also hate having to explain to the wife why the other JCW bits are a must have! She just doesn't get it .

A JCW is one of the few "modded" cars I wouldn't worry about too much as long as the car seems to be in good shape. It still has it's warranty right! Plus, if it has its warranty, you know that it was installed by an authorized dealer so you shouldn't have to worry too much about if it was installed properly. I think buying a used JCW only gives you the same concerns as you would have if you were buying any used MINI

I have a real dumb question as a new mini owner...are you supposed to be able to hear the tranny click from 1st into 2nd during a shift? When I have the windows down I can hear the gearbox working...

I just moved to the UK from Connecticut and got word that my JCW landed on the dock today. As soon as I get my hands on my baby I am driving down to JCW in West Sussex. Anyone want to join me, its just about an hour south of where I live and Oxford where the factiry is, is just about 40 minutes from where I live. How about a caravan?

I Hate that JCW

I LOVE the whine of the SC, the acceleration upon downshift at 70-75 mph, the endless "pull," the bottomless accelerator...

At 1251 miles I ran pretty hard down 94 just north of Chicago with a guy in a 328. We ran in and out of traffic for about 20 miles, about 25 mph faster than traffic, trading lead spots back and forth. We happened to get off at the same exit and ended up talking for 3 minutes waiting for the light to change - he told me had just moved out of a MCS because he needed a bigger car and that his only real regret was that he had not done the JCW on the Mini.

As an FYI, he said that as I passed him going about 95 he could hear the SC just screaming and knew right away something was different about this car....

Back on topic -- I HATE the fact that I have a confirmed intermittently sticking SC bypass valve and with 2000 miles on the car it sits at the dealers, waiting for a new bypass valve which is on double layered "backorder" (England AND Germany).

If any of you have had bypass replacement I'd be interested in how long you waited for the part to come in.

I hate the fact that I put in a JCW kit and eight hours later was rear-ended by a H1. The car has been in the shop for 4 weeks. That's what I hate. Was fun while it lasted.

Seriously... we drove from Houston, TX to Orlando, Fl and must have killed thousands! And not small ones....at 90 MPH they sound like rocks hitting the Windshield!

What bugs? Been to the UK a couple times, and never saw a bug. Well maybe a couple moths one night, but really, no window screens or anything. Maybe I just missed bug season.
