JCW Exhaust Installed!!

I just finished installing the JCW system today. It is much nicer than the stock system.I have the luxury of being able to use a lift and that makes it so much easier.I am wondering about the placement of the tips though.I would appreciate it if someone with a JCW car would tell/show me where they are supposed to go in relation to the bumper cover.(how far in/out)Thanks

Does anyone with a JCW car with the JCW exhaust even know this website exists?

Yes they do, but many people are at the Dragon event and it is a Saturday afternoon, so it is a little slow.

JCW Exhaust Tips

The correct placement of the tips, assuming mine is correct, is 1 & 1/8 inch exposed when cold.

That is measured from the bumper cover to the end of the tips. I have seen some that are a little farther out than mine, but in all cases the logo is readable.

Took my car for a track day last summer after the JCW install and at the end of the session they had extended more than that when cold and I thought maybe there was something wrong, but there wasn't, it's normal.

Hope that helps...

One and a quarter inch. Cold. Dealer install. Measured to the bumper directly above the pipes.

So, tell us how you like it? Notice the difference in weight savings, better air flow, sound?

I'm doing the same thing in a week or so and am very curious how you like it sans the rest of the kit/other mods.

It's the first major mod i've done so far.The difference in weight compared to the stock system is significant. The car feels a lot smoother on the highway, because it breathes a lot easier now.The difference in sound from the inside the car is very slight, but it's there.I haven't heard Sarah leave with it yet.
I hope your parts dept doesn't have/read the bulletin from MINI telling them to only sell the system with the rest of the JCW kit,and that the parts manager has to confirm(with a VIN) that the system is going on a car equipped with the other JCW components and is for warranty replacement only.I almost was unable to buy it.Can you believe that?Anyway it's on and I love it! Loki's 17" Webspokes will be here on Tuesday. The m7 pulley will be here sometime next week too.The transformation has begun...

BTW,undo the stock muffler straps/hangers and let the system down, spray the rubber insulators with PB Blaster and the hangers come right out with a little help from a screwdriver

this is the one exaust I want too. do you mind sharing what it went for? I want a aftermarket exaust but I am not into noisy exaust. I have sensitive hearind due to damage from to many powertools and music to loud. the works exaust seems to be the ticket for me. but can't justify the expense of the works package so I will have to peacemeal my own.

I missed out on one that was on ebay a while ago. it went for 100 bucks. came from a wrecked car. it just needed new tips. damn.
