Hello Miniacs,
Just wanted to give an update on my 2023 JCW Convertible. I finally hit 5,000 miles and it's going in for an oil change this week. I am also happy to report it's been a perfect car with zero issues to report, and everything works as it should. A few notable things to point out:
1. The convertible top is made from thick insulated fabric with a glass rear window, hence when the top is up you feel like you are in a coupe. It's truly the best of both worlds. If you were on the fence on getting a convertible...go for it. No regrets.
2. The upgraded Chesterfield Malt seats are worth every penny. They are extremely supportive and give the Mini a very premium look and feel. They complement the Rebel Green exterior color very nicely.
3. The A/C is ice-cold, even on the hottest days.
4. The Dynamics suspension easily handles the bad roads and potholes and gives the Mini a very nice compliant ride.
5. The run-flat tires are excellent. Gone are the days when you had to swap them out. They feel just like a non run-flat now because of the latest technology improvements.
6. The Nappa leather heated steering wheel is soft to the touch and feel very premium.
7. The interior ergonomics are perfect. Your right leg has plenty of room and does not hit the center console. Your left legs does not hit the door panel. The cup-holders are front and center where they belong. Plenty of arm and elbow room for everyone.
8. The rear seats are great if you have a dog and want to take him for a ride. I recommend a Barbour quilted pet bed. It' supper comfy and fits perfect in the back seats.
9. Because it's shorter than a Miata it fits into any parking spot.
10. The Brembo brakes are excellent and worth the extra money.
Hi Oscar,
These are the best seats I have ever had. They are extremely supportive without being overbearing. Additionally, the leather is top notch quality with zero cracking or wrinkling on the bolsters. I don't do anything to maintain them and they still look like new after 10,000 miles.
Also, they have the seat extender to give your thighs even more support if needed. The diamond quilt and white contrast piping are Bentley quality and in the winter the heat option makes them nice and toasty. Definitely go for it...no disappointment.
Seat color looks great. I am bias because I found and installed malt brown from a Sidewalk addition in my '06 R52. Black seats in a convertible are horrible, they get way to hot with the top down.
The tan leather interior combo imho is one of most gorgeous and supportive leather seats I ever sat on, right up there with some Porsche and Saab (RIP) seats.
Do suggesting trying the Zymol leather cleaner to preserve / clean leather interior. I have been using it for a decade, the ingredients are all nature (chemist by trade) and maintain the leather to be supple and not too glossy.
