Riddle me BM3's gains!

Hello,

I was looking for stage 1 options for my newly acquired 2016 F56 JCW (Euro car). One thing I liked about the prospect of ownership of this car was that I'd be able to tune it with BM3 as I have seen their success in other BMW engines plus I like to be in control of my tune, monitor data, try out different tweaks etc.

Now, most known Mini tuners in the UK and Europe in general are quoting roughly 280-290bhp for the Cooper S and closer to 290-300bhp (DervTech, Evolve etc.), fine. 300bhp and a 100-200kph time of mid 12s is my goal from this car with a stage 1 (my stock time is: 16.5", manual transmission)

So you can imagine how surprised I was when I looked at their page for the F56 to see that they quote a 42% gain on the S taking to 270bhp, but a mere 14% gain on the JCW (assuming they refer to it as "Low compression" motor) meaning an end result closer to 260+, lower than the S...

I've tried to find some evidence that backs this up as honestly it's hard to believe that the JCW makes less end bhp when tuned than a Cooper S, this not happening with any other tuner that I can find.

I really want to go with BM3 for the known conveniences and features they provide, and I;m definitely not looking to max it out, but leaving nearly half the gains on the table compared to other tuners quoting closer to 300bhp with a stage 1 is hard to overlook.

So, any JCW owners that do run Bootmod3 stage 1 that can report on actual gains, dynos or even better some real acceleration times (Dragy, P-Gear etc.)

Thanks!

Going through the same process now looking at BM3 for my JCW. Did you end up tuning?

Yep, I went ahead with BM3, the map was nice and good but after a while I contacted a MINI tuner in the UK (remotely) that offers custom mapping via BM3 (one of the beauties of the platform) and it unleashed a further ~30bhp judging from my 100-200 time improvement, the car was making 300bhp Cooper times.

It was DervTech from UK, Google should provide all the contacts details I believe. Very happy with the service from Chris, not the typical "flash n forget" tuner approach of somehow always being too busy to reply after the car's tuned, would gladly do it again if I wanted the strongest map for a JCW.

Just got my Cary Jordan full E85 tune on my GP3 and its smooth as BUTTER. He is the same guy who tuned my M3 on E85 (around 600 whp).

We're at around 335 whp / 380 bhp on full E85 @ 23 psi on stock turbo and stock fueling via BM3.

BMC Panel Filter w/stock intake
Wagner Intercooler
Stock downpipe
Full Remus race exhaust (catback)

Hey @Ringo9 I'm looking to get my JCW mapped and wanted to ask if you remember what the 100-200 time was after tuning the car?

I hate to revive a zombie thread, but surprisingly this is the only thread that comes up when you search "BM3" in JCW Garage... that surprises me extremely!
Where did the OP get the info that it adds so much less HP to the JCW than the S? Where did the OP get the info on DervTech? I feel like there MUST be threads of people passionately discussing these things... Am I doing something wrong?

At any rate-

I'm in the USA and on all of day 3 of ownership with my 2017 JCW Clubman. I've already got a laptop loaded up with Bimmercode and the BM3 software, already own the OBD2 to ethernet cable - definitely interested in doing the BM3 tuning, but now I need to figure out the best way/best tune/etc. Where are those threads?

I also own a 2006 Cooper S convertible that I had remotely tuned (not BM3), and that forum is LOADED with threads. From that I thought NAM is regarded as the place to be - surprised that's maybe not the case with the newer cars (and 2017 isn't exactly "new"). Is there a better place to find this info?

Any help is very much appreciated, and thanks.
