Need help :( Torn dust boot on rear caliper piston

Hi, changed my rear brakes as one side was completly worn off (and the other side still had lots to go)...found it strange... So, while doing my rear brakes, I noticed that the dust boot on my piston was torn pretty bad (the side that had the brakes gone) and I think that would explain why the brakes were so used (maybe the piston isnt moving properly).

Aynhow, I called 2 different mini dealers...they all tell me they dont sell the dust boot by itself ..u gotta buy the whole caliper (800$ can)...screw that.

Can anyone help me locate the part ..for the life of me I cant find it on the internet...I've looked on old threads and so on...but all I found was boot dust for r53/r56 .... I have mini jcw f56 2016.

Pls help :(

I've not yet changed the pads on my Mini, but, in OTHER vehicles that I have changed, those little dust boots are included in the "brake hardware" set, which is often included with the replacement pads. I also think you are correct, the loss of lubrication that boot should have protected probably resulted in that pad not retracting properly when you removed brake pedal pressure.

I know, but I cant and wont pay for the whole caliper..thats just crazy lol. I just have to figure out the diameter of the piston ...as of now, I think its 36 mm...but unless someone has the information, ill have to go and measure it myself... and try some 5$ rubber part from an autoshop...This is just ridiculous :(

I'm afraid I misunderstood which boot you were referring to. I thought you meant the boots covering the sliding pins, not the boot covering that actual piston. My bad. I hope you can find the boot for that piston...it sure seems like it would be a part that is replaceable. Best of wishes in your search!

Try centric brakes. The F56 uses the same rear brakes regardless of car, even the GP3.

This may not be the one you need, but, I do see they sell just the piston seals...

When I had to rebuild the JCW calipers on my '06 R52, I picked up the complete seal kits from O'Reilly's.... kits were $6 each
