JCW Dinan Elite Installed
My unit seems to have settled down since the reinstall, No codes since early Jan until last week, but they self-cleared after a few cycles. As long as it continues to behave, I'm a happy camper ... the power increase is noticeable. Fingers crossed. Still ... I'll be first in line for the next update which is supposed to resolve the pressure sensor issue.
so is a Dinan dealer the only ones that can do software updates?
I have to say I drive mine in sport and one click over left on the auto stick and it is very noticeable. Once I pair up a sprint booster I think it will be crazy good.
Love my sprint booster with the elite. Gets into boost really fast
interesting or just my imagination?
I have noticed on my Elite, that performance is less than consistent. Some days the care feels like it has power for days. Some days not so much. This weekend we went on a road trip. I usually don't use Green but wanted to save a little fuel on the long trip. Since we have come back from the trip and running in green mode for extended periods, the performance on the car has been crazy good. I don't run green mode in town, and only on highway with cruise, so I don't think I am feeling the "green to sport" effect.
I could be imagining it, but it seems that the tuner liked the car in green mode for a while so it could get a better map. Just a weird thought.

No, but I will try it.
I installed a Dinan Elite Tuner on my 2017 F56S in July of 2020. The MINI ran stout for almost 3000 miles. It began to throw a CEL when slowing for a stop light, entering a driveway or fitting into a parking spot. The code was always P12A9 which is a boost pressure to high. At first I was checking the connectors and then clearing the code. When the CEL would come on with the P12A9 code it didn't change drivability. I contacted Dinan and they said to monitor the situation and contact them if it became a problem.
Then I began getting "drivetrain malfunction" errors with a CEL code P10F2 that lowered engine output into almost limp mode. Again, no loose connectors or visible installation issues. Dinan told me to install the bypass plug and monitor changes. With the bypass plug in I was still getting P12A9 codes but not the power reducing P10F2 code that indicates charge pressure to high for barometric pressure. Dinan told me the module and harness are bad. They are sending me a replacement unit.
I have run the MINI all week with the entire Dinan unit removed. Everything is all back to bone stock and not one hiccup, code, error malfunction or problem. The only downside is the power output is noticeably far lower than what the Dinan was producing. Once the new unit comes I'll repost with my results.
I have to say that the team at Dinan has been very helpful and courteous but my confidence in the product is on shaky footing right now.

Thanks for that information it makes me feel better that it may just a faulty unit. Dinan has been great and easy to work with. They are sending me a full new kit under warranty. I will post back with my results.
Update: My replacement Dinan Elite Tuner arrived and I have installed it this morning. I ran about 125 miles today and no CELs or drivetrain malfunctions. I may be crazy, but it doesn't feel the same as the first unit I installed. It feels much tamer and barely a noticeable difference over the way I have been running it for a few weeks with no module. When I first put the original in it was immediately noticeable. Today, it just felt like sport mode on a cold day. I will keep you up to date with my progress.
You might be crazy
but I had posted the same thing, 3 different Modules and they all felt different. The 2nd unit I had was the best, immediately felt the difference pulling out of the dealership but then a CEL a week later.

I drove again today for over 150 miles and there is just no comparing the boost and power output of the first unit to this unit. This unit is hardly noticeable over the stock S in sport mode. My first unit was immediate. The WOW factor was impressive. This unit doesn't even feel like it makes any difference. I took the bypass plug with me today and at the end of the day I removed the unit and put in the bypass. It felt virtually the same. I'm pretty frustrated and fed up at this point.
Logged another 180 plus miles day today. 40 miles into the day, P12A9. Check Engine Light. Shortly after showing the CEL, "Drivetrain Malfunction" limp mode. Stopped, checked codes, cleared codes. A few miles later, same thing. I'm taking out the Dinan. I'm done. I had it in for a few months last summer before putting the MINI up for the winter. Then taking it out this spring the CEL fiasco and limp mode started. This is the second unit and I'm done with the experiment. For the price of the unit and the claims by Dinan I would have expected a more stable product. Frustrating as I know some owners have had luck with them.

Man, I keep reading these and every time they say you need a new harness and/or headunit. Is their QC really that crappy?? That they just have to keep swapping them until you get a "good" one? What gives?
What is frustrating is I have chatted with Dinan Elite users that have had zero issues. I was very surprised to see CELs so quick on my second unit. I thought it would start up after a few thousand miles.
