JCW Dinan Elite Installed
im not quite sure what your asking. Remove battery? Key? Also do you have the sprint booster with elite?
so I know people have had issues with CEL after installing the Elite. The directions ask you to remove the negative cable from the car battery and to make sure the key fob is far enough away to not transmit to the car. I just took the battery out of the key fob.
When I installed my Elite I followed the direction by removing battery from key fob and disconnecting the negative battery cable on the car. When I got everything installed the car told me that it needed to reset the computer. It took several miles of driving for everything to get back dialed in with the computer.

I finally got my Dinan removed and while at the shop I met Steve Dinan himself and spoke with him briefly. He mentioned to me that ever since he sold the Dinan brand, the quality of the products went downhill and he's not happy at all that his name is being tied to whatever products is now being sold. He is disappointed his name is being dragged the way it has. He is working on something new that focuses on software instead and offered me to be part of a test program. I left him my info but it sounds like he has no trust in whatever Dinan sells now.

Well, his sell agreement should have included a quality maintenance clause or such guarantee to insure the Dinan name would be maintained....maybe he feels helpless because there is no recourse for him at this time. Sadly when money takes a front seat in product development with a lesser emphasis on “quality regardless of the cost” things go downhill! Steve should have seen this coming & at least had protection in his agreement to protect his name. I remember calling out West to their shop back in the early 90’s and I ordered a gen 4 Dinan chip for my “88 BMW M5....it came fast including DINAN window stickers which the car still proudly displays! The chip did what it was suppose to do & has never been a problem. It’s sad that this is happening to Dinan. Steve was instrumental in the development of the technology that continues in our cars today.
well that is sad that the quality has gone down, especially since his name is attached. If he is going to continue and work at tuning cars, then why did he sell the brand? Seems like everyone is more worried about the money than the quality....including Mr. Dinan. Unfortunate this is the world we live in. I purchased my Elite used so hopefully it was manufactured before the quality issues.
Pretty sad for a company to have a performance product that customers have to hold their breath or knock on wood. Mine has worked well although it isn't always as predictable in the boost department from day to day. Never an error code or misstep.
Fingers crossed! lol

Or, if you’re looking at it from the buyers perspective, the deal should have included a non-disclosure agreement that the seller not bad mouth the company that I just bought from you. (I’m tryin’ to be funny... I hope the units work great for our fellow Mini enthusiasts)

Trying to go online to register my Elite and can't even do that. This is the address they give with the unit. I put in my Mac address and it says "Mac not found"

Started the car this morning because we don’t have a remote start lol to warm it up. Idled for like 20 min and when I got in I had a CEL. Was going to unplug the Dinan and wing it! But I just re started the car and it was fine for my commute. Hoping it never happens again but I highly doubt it.
thanks for that link to register I will try it today.

It has become a sad company to deal with. lol I have a fax machine but no phone line anymore.
So far, after over 3 years, and now installed in my second MINI Clubman S All4, my little $250 Dinan Sport box, set to Sport+, continues to deliver the grins I was seeking when I first purchased it in December, 2016. Smartphone app is still not great, but who cares?
I think the trick is in losing that little gray plug clip -- I have managed to do it twice. On the installation in the second car, using Moocher's needle nose technique, no blood. Hope I didn't jinx it, but, so far, very happy and no codes. Sometimes, like so much else in life, I think the simple solution is best.

I am not familiar with the sensor connections on the new JCW, so I don't know what would happen if you could, and did, plug a Dinan Sport or an NM single sensor box into the new JCW.
I can't imagine needing the extra boost in the 300hp version of the engine -- I think BMW has done the work for you. The new from-the-factory JCW Clubman rips!!
But if you're feelin' the need for a few extra psi, I'd call the excellent folks at NM in Camarillo California. When I was researching boxes, the engineer at NM was great to talk with. Based on what people are saying about their recent Dinan adventures, I think I'd look hard at NM, if it would work in the new JCW.
I took the Dinan Sport off my 2017 S All4 at lease end and recently installed the same take-off Dinan unit on my new 2020 Clubman S All4. Works great.

According to you it will work, but I guess since its not officially approved from Dinan, I wouldn't be getting the warranty coverage which would be the main reason to go with them. Guess I will have to keep on waiting until someone loans them a vehicle for them to test on.
I was just pointing out that you had just slapped the (older 2017) unit on your car, and amazingly it worked, which is good for you, and good for us to know for anyone who wants to run it in their 2020 currently "unofficially".
It would appear as of now that none of these companies have gotten any of their hands on any of the 2020 Base/S/JCW models as non of them seem to be offering any tuning options for the 2020 models, which sucks considering they have been out for 5 months now.
