2018 JCW sway bar coil over question

Just grabbed a 2018 JCW was thinking of either sway bars or coil over upgrade to eliminate/reduce a bit of body roll.
Will sway bars be the most cost effective solution, if so which type size etc?
Don't intend to lower the car. I do not have the DDC.
Thanks

If you aren't interested in lowering the car, coilovers might be overkill. Springs can actually reduce body roll and squatting on acceleration and braking, too, but those generally also lower it about an inch, and might reduce the lifespan of your OEM shocks.

The NM Engineering sway bar is good, and there is a good Eibach kit that has both an upgraded from and rear sway bar, which I am planning to get.

When upgrading the sway bars, it's a good idea (see: very good idea) to upgrade the rear end links, as they are a plastic composite, and might break with a bigger rear sway bar.

Agree ... NM Engineering sway bar is a great addition. I have the 25mm rear bar and it does transform the handling. Also, the Craven Speed Big Pair is a very good and cost effective option. The most noticeable mod will be non-runflat tires.

Thanks folks, I see "elsnaibs" has the Cravenspeed Big Braces. Maybe I look into the braces and swaybars and see what difference they make.

Can’t go wrong with the Big Pair and NM sway bar. I’m running the 22mm sold bar vs the 25mm hollow. I’m happy with the combination. Also agree with the NM links.

Rear sway bar is first thing you should do to suspension. Then see how it handles. Mine only cost me $300 installed on my 2007 MCS.

I would suggest sway bar before braces, I did it wrong, lol.

Just put on coil overs, sway bar and braces. I would recommend the 25mm sway bar and body braces. Craven Speed Braces are good but the Chassis Bones Body Braces do the same thing and are $80 cheaper.

nclorax- how much difference did just the rear sway bar make? I'm looking to eliminate that initial turn in / body roll.

Hard to say for the 2018 F56 JCW as I did all the mods at once. On my 2005 MCS I did just the sway bar and never did coilovers. Just that alone improved turn in / body roll.

I did braces and sway bar at the same time. However, sway bar made a huge difference. It really helped turn-in and you can easily prompt oversteer. I have mine on the softest setting, which is plenty.

Getting rid of the run-flat tires will make more difference than anything else, so that should be another area to look at. I went with the Continental Exteme Contacts and am very pleased with them.

The rear sway bar is the biggest improvement in handling, but the braces do seem to help with body flex so they are still a good mod. Plus they are easy to install.

Rear bar reduces understeer and body roll. Get too much bar and over she goes on her side lol.

I have Eibach's front and rear sway bar kit, it was a phenomenal upgrade. The upgrade is more substantial in the rear, so the understeer from the factory is gone, and the front bar further helps reduce roll. Really great kit.

I did it! And got the upgraded NM Engineering End Links.

Did you do the install yourself? I have done rear sway bars, but not front. How big was the job?

Not many people change the fronts. I don't think you could even buy a 3rd party front bar for the R56. The way it was explained to me is the thicker rear bar decreases understeer which the Mini does quite a bit. The thicker front does the opposite.

It's an upgrade to both the front and rear, with the rear being a bigger upgrade in size from stock. Will still reduce understeer and inprove lift-off oversteer, but (hopefully) in a more balanced way overall.

Front bars are available for both the R56 and F56, from Eibach
and H&R.
I have the H&Rs installed.
A bigger front bar along withh a bigger rear does NOT induce
understeer.
My F56 now turns flatter and better than just a rear bar.
Along withH&R springs. It’s the total package.
The rear bar theory was introduced due to the high cost of installing
the front.

I have a dealer here in SoCal that charges 2 labor hours.
