JCW Selling the JCW

Selling the JCW
I am not even really sure why this is happening...but it is.
I have been a MINI owner since 2004. Has 5 of them with different badges but all hatchbacks. Hell I learnt to drive in one (Austin Mini)
It all started when a guy I work with let me drive his Tesla and suggested I buy one. After looking into it the cost even of a used one was more than I wanted to spend but I had had a good year financially. I was not unhappy with my 2016 JCW completely pimped with gauges wide tires and a JB4 etc...but the thought had started.
So I started reading up on looking and did a few test drives. Most were super boring after the MINI except the M2....it seems like a natural progression from a JCW. It put a smile on my face during the G force of hard acceleration! Understeer will be a thing of the past. Although rear wheel drive is tough in the Canadian winter - it will be run in summer and on the odd track day. This car can really move!
So long story short I'm moving on to a different forum. These are great cars and honestly I'm still loving my JCWr - after all I can drive it full out around corners and in a straight line around the city. With the tune it is very quick past 60mph....but honestly I don't use that much - too dangerous with all the unpredictability of other drivers. Hence the dilemma - how can a daily driver be more fun than a MINI JCW?
I'm hoping it is possible!

Well I'll be go-to-hell, leaving Mini after 14 years are you? To a pluginmobile? Nooooooooo! I've never driven an electric car but I'm sure they're really different than a JCW. This will most likely be my last Mini too, but I've probably got another couple years left in it. Well good luck Greg, and whatever you do don't run out of batteries. Can you plug those puppies into a generator in a pinch? You know, start the thing up, blow a couple smokes, and take off again?

Hecko Pete, keep the mini! I have a C7 Z06 and it is a monster and fun to drive, but I would part with it before I would give up the mini! I am so stoked about the new GP that I am lusting after that as well! However, the current JCW is my favorite of all of my automotive toys and I plan on keeping it for as long as I am able to keep it road/track worthy! I would love to drive the new Tesla sports car, but that will most likely never happen, they are ridiculously expensive and the only way to get one is to order with the money up front and wait two years or better for delivery! No thanks.
Even though BMW has dramatically improved the mini, they did manage to keep its essence somewhat and made it a very reliable fun mobile. Good luck with your new toy!

My son bought one last December but lives in California. I drove it once. Be prepared, this is very stiff on your butt. Interior quality control and finish is awesome. These one are still coming from Germany

The R56 JCW was fun, but pales in comparison to the performance of the F56 JCW. Still, I plan on checking out the M2. I have a speed car, I am really looking for a better technical tight turning car than the F56 JCW. Hence, I have been eagerly awaiting the introduction of the F56 JCW.

I like rural twisties, city streets attract too much attention. I had an M7 with a good driver that couldn't hang with me on the Tail of the Dragon. We visited after the run at Deal's Gap, he was planning on checking out a mini. MY JCW is 269 HP currently with 285 FT. LBS. of torque on the low setting, I plan to boost the octane to 100 next trip to N.C. and have it dynoed while there. The B48 is pretty solid to about 300, but the GP should handle the HP better than the JCW as it already is set for the track. I probably pretty close to my limits as I am no spring rooster and I don't want to out drive my reflexes! Still, the M2 has tweaked my curiosity, I have not seen one in person, so a trip to check one out is in order! Thanks!
