Discoloration on JCW Pro Exhaust right tip

I've noticed on the right pipe after running for awhile the pipe changes color... bronze to golden color. I can buff it out with chrome polish but it will come back again. Only the right side. Anyone else with JCW Pro exhaust with the stainless tips have the same issue? Photo below.

Probably has something to do with the right side coming straight from the cat and not going through the muffler. You can control it with your exhaust control switch.

Steel changes color when it gets hot but doesn't change back when it gets cold.
It's the nature of the brute.

yup...your cars pooper is changing color....
IMO get over it...its the exhaust...it gets hot, has noxious chemicals spewing from it..the fact that that it changes the color of metal...lol..kinda expected...ever see a perfect exhaust? chrome , stainless, etc all change over time...part of a car aging...
not trying to be harsh...but....pretty far out there for a complaint...
if you want to be one of "those" people guess you could complain to the dealer...

Run it for a couple of weeks with the flap closed. The left side will turn the same color eventually.

Some would call that patina, a sign of graceful aging.

I had the same issue on my MCS 2014. Worse than yours but MINI replaced it. I agree the exhaust gets hot - but not that hot especially that distance from the engine, Motorbike often have their manifolds discolor but not so for the back of the muffler,
IHM it is a cheap chrome job. I bet if you cut them off and got them chromed locally by a decent place then put them back on it would not happen again,

Ha! Ha! Somebody has been running most all the time with the "flap open"! My guess as well.....the exhaust is hotter on the right side!

5 or 6 years ago on this very forum there was discussion about people, wearing shorts, that burned their legs from those very hot beer cans while unloading groceries from the boot. The discussion wavered from changing location of the pipes to liability questions. Nothing was ever settled though.

It was settled with an NHTSA recall: http://www.motortrend.com/news/20072...ust-tips-3163/

Next thing is they are going to limit how hot a hot drink can be served!! Prevent burned mouths and maybe even legs when spills happen....
Amazing....guess folks that burnt their legs never drove a motorcycle....anybody that has knows an exhaust might be HOT!!

Good to know now but the long forgotten thread on the forum more than likely died of terminal ennui as do most of the discussions on social media.

I've used Blue-Job with some success on my bikes header pipes.

Give it a try!
