Had my JCW dynoed today YAY!!!

Here is the pic of the dyno pull. This was the 4th pull. each pull gained a bit more. 261.46 HP to the wheels and 281.40 ftlbs of torque!! Quite happy. I'm sure there are stronger Minis out there, but this one is mine! And with only 2 simple mods. Plus, this is the power module on low. Didn't want to try switching it since I figured I'd have to drive a few miles for it to work right and the shop of course had to close. Nice shop as well, they had a few Supras there making between 700 to 1300 hp!

Thanks for the post! I have dyno time next Tuesday the 8th and I am doing pulls with exhaust closed and open. It will be interesting to see how it compares to yours! Exciting times for mini lovers!

Me too! I'm just happy that the results were above what I was expecting. I figured it would be something like 240 to the wheels, not over 260! Guess in theory, that should mean my little mini makes close to 290 hp at the crank! Given the 12% loss, but that is a controversial number.

What octane and type of gas are you running?

I adjusted your photo sizes so they could be seen more easily.

Wow!! Great numbers. I think that exhaust is certainly helping you gain some power, especially in conjunction with the power module. Thanks for posting!

Awesome! So you think 230 BHP stock and add another 30 with the NM mod? That car must have you looking in your rear view mirror a lot lol.

Running just standard 93 octane from Exxon. Module was on Low setting as well.

Mainly on onramps when I hit 100 mph! Not sure what the crank horsepower would be, but the tune shop said it could be between 290-295 bhp. But he said there were too many variables to tell. But still, 261 hp TO THE WHEELS is great in my book!

what are your thoughts on the AWE Exhaust volume wise?

I'd say very close to perfect, at least with the automatic. I can't say with the manual, even AWE tuning said there may be droning but seems non existent with the auto. Very quiet on highway, especially if in green mode. I daily drive my car in sport mode and around town at 45-50 mph and highway 60-72 mph it is very quiet. But flooring it produces awesome sound that yes, is quite loud, with pops and burbles every time you let off the gas. And then it goes quiet again. I haven't experienced any droning, still can't believe it's a straight pipe with a HUGE resonator. Really sounded awesome on the dyno at redline under a load.

We took the mini to the closest dynamometer testing facility today. This was his first mini test and we had some difficulty achieving accurate results. I thought it should be in 4th gear for the best results, but it kept upshifting even though it was in manual mode and roller test was activated. Anyway, he charted it for me with two runs in 3rd gear the higher horsepower and torque results were with the JCW PRO exhaust open, the lower with the exhaust closed. This is wheel horsepower and torque results. So, as the results indicate with the exhaust open peak horsepower was 269 and torque was 285. With the exhaust closed peak horsepower was 261 and peak torque was 277. He sent me an email with the results in PDF file and I am unable to upload it to this site! I will see if I can open it with Photoshop and save it as a jpg or other image format file that this site will accept.

Sounds like you had good results too. Odd that it kept upshifting, my mini stayed in 4th gear for the pulls, was thinking about just doing 5th gear, but the guy said 4th would be better. Still it's pretty cool to note you actually do pick up more power with the flap open, it's not just a sound device alone. Congrats!

So your dyno and the OP's dyno were exactly the same. He has the NM module and aftermarket exhaust. You have an exhaust, do you have an add-on power module too?

I am trying to scan the results that I printed so I can save it as an image file rather than a PDF. However, I have a new scanner that befuddles my tired old brain and I have not had any luck yet. I uploaded the PDF file to the F56 forum and it is viewable there. This one will not accept PDF documents and the chart is viewable there. Yes, I am happy with it where it is. When or if I succeed with scanning it and saving it as an image file I will post it here.

I'm also curious about if you have a module or other tune, then again, I'm wondering how much of a difference a dyno run would be from the perspective of my 4th gear pull from your 3rd gear pull.
But in the long run, it basically comes down to the fact that we love our cars if they have 100 or 1000 hp.

Yes, I am wondering, but he seemed to think it would be about the same, but maybe show a little more torque. I don't know whether or not that makes a difference (gearing). I did get the chart scanned finally, cleaned up and reduced for the web, so here it is. I think it is pretty accurate considering we are similarly equipped and have essentially the same results.

VERY nice results, love the torque curve, almost straight up and then flat allowing excellent passing at any speed. Now all we need to do is the sound off test!!!

Yes, I want to hear the difference in the sound! ;-). Please post up when you both can record....side by side will be best of course.

Great results Dan! You should be thrilled. And all I have is a stock JCW! Love it as is for now....not broke in yet! LOL

I will, Paula recorded the runs on the ipad, but I don't have the software to reduce the files to a manageable size as they are huge video with audio ones. I will have to check out apple to see what I have to lay out for the proper software to accomplish this and then read and remember enough to do it! Not easy for an old, clueless, non technical guy. But, I will give it the old motorhead try! BTW, it does sound great and seeing the mini squat when he really put his foot down was impressive! I am, like a lot of others on these forums are wild about the F56 mini.
