JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 1st Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
I'm looking to buy a Gray R53 JCW with low miles but I haven't been able to find any JCW's at all for the most part, is there any special place I should go / special search terms I should use to look for one? I'm in USA around Pennsylvania
A JCW R53 is a Cooper S model with a JCW Engine Tuning Kit (either 200bhp or 210bhp). These kits were all dealer fit until they were available as a factory option in November 2005. Cars with the factory option will also have a LSD and JCW Sport Brakes.
You can attain JCW-like performance by fitting a supercharger reduction (15%-17%) pulley to a standard R53 along with a shorter drive belt and one-step colder spark plugs.

I understand that, but the problem is that I'd really like to have the LSD, aero kit, and exhaust. Those three things are very expensive to add on to a base R53, which is why I'd like to get a JCW.

Your search will be limited to 2006 models built November 2005 onward. The Aero Kit was a dealer fit accessory so that will make your search even more difficult.
They can be found on ebay.com and search Cars.com . But they will not come up as JCW's they will come up as a Cooper S and maybe have a Aero kit on the them. Look for the JCW Engine Tuning kit as a sign that its a JCW package. If you get real lucky you can find them with the JCW tuning suspension or other nice options.
Good luck indeed, I used to have an autotrader search setup for 06 JCWs but rarely turned anything up anywhere. I lucked into mine (late 2006 production) when it came up as a trade in at the local mini dealership a couple years ago. No certificate of authenticity but confirmed the JCW kit was factory by having someone run the options list from the VIN.
Keep us posted, I’m interested in seeing what you find.
I've been searching for about a month, so far the only JCW with low miles that I found was this (http://www.paulscarcare.com/BigSummi...257EA40059A615), and it was perfect but I was _one_ day late in asking the dealer about it. I really wish I liked Chili Red, since I've found 3-4 of those that look amazing, but I just don't like the color. Hopefully I can find something similar, I've been mainly searching various auto sites and searchtempest for craigslist. Is there a way to search all the MINI dealerships for used cars?
I was lucky in finding mine locally here in Hawaii with extremely low miles.. but it was a dealer fit options so I don't have the LSD, brakes, or aero kit but everything else is installed.
Theres a couple JCWs for sale in the for sale section of this forum. Dont know if they are the exact car OP is looking for, but...............................
At this point, I'm interested in pretty much any ('05-'06) R53 as long as it's the royal gray/dark silver in color, has an aero kit, and is in good condition with low(ish) miles -- ideally under 70k, but depending on the car I might be ok with more than that.
Last May I was looking for 05/06 MCS... For a few months. My JCW showed up on Kijiji ad board in a small town outside Toronto. It was not described as JCW, let alone very rare edition of only 64 cars ( in Canada)... Thanks to great photos by seller, I could see that car has Aero kit and especially after double checking original mileage (27k km not miles!), I was the first one to see the vehicle. I bought it on the spot! No test drive needed...

Good luck in your search!
I am considering selling my 2006 factory JCW. It isn't grey, and it probably won't be for sale until March, as I need to make it through the rest of winter before pulling my Miata out of the garage. Here is my introduction thread:
