Full 2nd day JCW review!!

Performance: 10/10
This Gen 3 is a huge step forward from the Gens before it. Performance wise your looking at fast hatchback that just begging for you to unleash it. The torque is instant, making it only second best to the handling of this car.

How's the handing? 10/10
I would say easily 4x better then my Mini Coupe S. This handing caught me off guard. I had to adjust to the quicker response time.

Do you feel your body push back into the seat? 10/10
Yes! I never had that feeling in any of my other Mini Coopers. Of course I haven’t even gunned it yet (at lease not until I pass 1200 miles) however in Sport Mode this baby is years ahead of then Gen 2.

How's the sound? 8/10

Sound is deffy there, but it isn't at a level that would be annoying during a long trip. If you want to make her pop, throw her in Sport mode and lay down the pedal. The Pop and crackle is sensational.

Suspension? 8/10

Yes this Mini is alot better then my Coupe S even over potholes. I believe it's fair to say it's slightly less then the Countryman and that says a lot on how good the suspension is.

Looks: 9/10

I'm really surprised on how good the JCW looks in person. This isn't a cookie cutter GTR. Ppl turned their heads all day today and I received a lot of complements all on the first day. This whole BS about its 6 inches longer and the lights are this and that.. That's all-great for Internet forms but in person this Mini looks will build, and looks the part.

De-chrome or not to De-chrome? I don't like chrome at all. That being said, on this car the chrome isn't bad at all. I had “store credit” and will you it to order the black trim.

Headlights 7/10

Yes these headlights are a lot different then the Gen 2. In person I honestly don’t think they look as bad as in pictures. Should have they been pushed back from the front frame and angled back? This is only thing I would say the Gen 2 has on the Gen 3. The one plus on this is the day time running lights

Air in-takes! 8/10

Yes I know the JCW has tons of air-takes. Get over it and trust me it’s the last thing your going to worry about. I honestly think the look is a view steps above the S.

Thunder Grey w/ red color 10/10

Do I dare say that this color is amazing in person? I know everyone wants the classic Black on Red or even the Pepper w/ red. To me, this color combo is a nod to both the classic red roof and the GP2. I’m extremely happy that the TD w/ red turned out this good.

Price: 8/10

This baby fully loaded will cost you a pretty penny! Honesty if you’re going to this tier, Mini will make sure pay for it. Was it worth it? Absolutely. People have said so much on how this Gen 3 isn’t the same then the other Gens. In my review I would say it feels and looks like I spend my money well. That was a huge complaint I had with the Gen 1 and 2 that you would drop like 35k and still feel like you over paid 15k. For this JCW you feel like your spend your money well.

Heads up display? 5/10

You can forget about the HUD if you wearing polarized sunglasses like this guy. I wear glasses so I’m limited to what sunglasses I can wear. If you are just going to wear normal ones then you should be fine with the HUD. The HUD is useful and I’m sure I’ll have better things to say for it when I’m heading off on a trip, and I get non-polarized sunglasses

Interior: 10/10

This Interior is light years better then the Gen 2. I know all of us true Mini fans love the corky looks of the Mini Coopers. Do you trade in some corky for premium? Yes, but for good reason. This is where the BMW feel plays the most in the new Mini.

Overall

This is a grown up Mini Cooper that is designed to match its hatchback competition in 2015 and beyond. The premium price matches the premium feel your getting with the JCW. The top fields for the new JCW is handling, torque and the new interior. The only negative is the HUD and the headlights. The performance and quality is top notch. Nobody is going to drive this car and not have a blast doing so! Motor on everyone!

Thanks for sharing your impressions. What do you think of the wheels? If I buy it, I think I'll put 18" at least on her.

Will the 18 inch rims in person look amazing and you can't go wrong with them. I picked the 17 inch rims due to the all season run flats more then anything. I'm from Florida originally (I now live in Boston) so the idea of paying tons of money to switch out to snow tires is repulsive to me lol. That all said, I have no complaints on the black rims, saved $800 doing it and they highlight the dark red brake calibers.

It's still in status 112. So now I wait. So excited for you. I'm in FL and agree I can't even imagine having to have 2 sets of tires for weather. LOL

Hi Maytulip32. You live in Middleburg, FL? I'm in Orange Park. Mine just started production. Guess I ordered right before you. I was the second at Tom Bush. The first ordered the day before me. Are you part of JAMM?

Awesome, howdy neighbor. I ordered mine from Wesley Chapel in Tampa. Needless to say Tom Bush is not high in my list. It would have been my 4 car from their dealerships 3 Minis and 1 BMW and they treated us like crap so I went to Wesley Chapel and had an awesome experience. It was worth the 2 1/2 hour drive. How do I find out about JAMM? We've heard of it but never checked into it.

I'd have to agree that from a driving standpoint, the Gen 3s are a huge step forward compared to the Gen 2s. I'm patiently waiting for a mid-cycle refresh--I've got high hopes that the design team will come through!

I assume you got the unique JCW Dinamica seats. How are those so far? Yours seems to be the most popular color combo around here, looks very good too. I'll bet the thing is a rocket, I know mine is a whole lot quicker than my MCS was. Congrats.

Quickave, nice review and Congratulations for the new ride.

I am curious to know how the car handles and corners because the S I drove last year was flexing so much it was a disappointment about body integrity.

With the added cornering power of the JCW, if there is no added bracing to the body, you may already feel the flexing with all the noise coming from the trim panels.

At least, what I like from my JCW Coupe is it feels solid and doesn't flex.

I would really need to be convinced of the virtues of this new model and test drive one for at least one day.

By the way, how much does it costs as optioned? Sorry for asking.

So I looked up in the OM has to the breaking Period..heres what it says:
General information

Moving parts need time to adjust to one an‐ other (break-in time).
The following instructions will help accomplish a long vehicle life and good efficiency.
During break-in, do not use the Launch Control, refer to page 71.
Engine, transmission, and axle drive
Up to 1,200 miles/2,000 km
Do not exceed the maximum engine and road speed:
▷ For gasoline engine 4,500 rpm and 100 mph/160 km/h.
Avoid full load or kickdown under all circum‐ stances.
From 1,200 miles/2,000 km
The engine and vehicle speed can gradually be increased.
