Saw the JCW at the dealer, while getting an oil change. Loved it. I noticed it did not have front fogs, due to a new intercooler, but it did have rear fogs. MA said that the rear fogs would not be an option either in 2016, except in Europe.
"The JCW's exterior changes are fully functional, trading fog lights for air intakes that feed the auxiliary coolers and new braking package." - Can read more here.
As for the rear fog lights, that's interesting. So the 2016 in the states will not be allowed to be ordered with the rear fog light option? Did he say why?
I can see that the missing lights in the front were for a good reason. I just never noticed they were missing until I saw the actual car. He said that the rear fogs will be an option on the 2015, but will not be on the 2016. He did not know why.

I noticed when I picked up my 2015 JCW from the dealer that it had no front Fogs and I realize why. But how come they have rear fog light lenes in the back but no lights inside the red covers? Came to that conclusion when I found there was no way to turn them on if there were lights inside the lens.
It will be interesting to see what happens with mine. I ordered in March so before the rear fog lights were taken away as an option, but when I do a VIN check it says that my car has them even though it is a 2016. Hopefully I will find out in a couple of weeks as my car reaches land next week.
I think the common thing with the rear fog light for 2014/2015 is to have the lens and even the bulb, but no switch installed. If installed, the switches are pushbuttons beside the main light switch.

Yes, No switch in that location. Thanks. Maybe I could convert that to extra brake lights. Just maybe..
I"ve had rear fog lights on both of my JCW's and while I never used them a lot, they did come in handy on several occasions in heavy snow, as well as rain and fog times. I think that for a safety issue, they should still be made available. On Motoringfile there was a petition set up, but I don't know if there was much done about it.
As for the lack of front fog lights on the JCW, I understand that where fog lights are to go, that an air duct for a radiator is on the drivers side. This is a suggestion to MINI, why not use the fake hood scoop, route air to that auxiliary radiator and move it, then the fog lights could still be where they are suppose to be? Or, convert the driving lights to fog lights? Many of us Mini, kind of purists, like auxiliary lights like driving lights, so why not use or offer the driving lights as fog lights for the JCW? Ok, now I'll hear where they are too high, but then lower them, something like Mopar did on the 1970 Cuda AAR model? Of course the after market could get involved in something like this too. LED driving fog lights. I like it.
