Electrical Rear Fog - Puddle lights?
Rear Fog - Puddle lights?
Really confused here. Messing with NCS-Expert and discovered why my rear fog wasnt working. It wasnt enabled....
so I enabled it, now it works!
Oddly, my son discovered, that when the rear fog is on now, i have puddle lights in my doors?? They only come on with the rear fog??
Coolness factor, the puddle lights are the mini projectors... LOL
We popped one out, and it all looks factory (the cut out, and wiring) so I cant for the life of me understand how/why they come on with the rear fog?
Thoughts?

This makes sense, I know I chose the wrong variant the first time I was in there... thats what happens when your are clueless LOL
Is there an easy fix?
Is there an easy fix?
There is. ButI don’t remember the right German code words.. basically you recode the module to default setting please check the ncs dummies/ ncs expert forum.
If you were only editing in text editor then using ncs expert to recode, that would explain how the error got committed.
I strongly recommend doing all changes in ncs dummies.
been doing it that way for decades and already did 3 minis with it with no issues.

If you remember what wrong variant you used, undo the change via that variant. See if that doesn’t undo it.
otherwise someone was in there before you and remapped an output to the wrong thing.
this is from e90 forum but follow the steps for pre 02 or look at pre facelift e46 as gen 1 minis don’t hav3 VO coding (sadly, bc it’s so much easier to do retrofits when they do)

pulled and edited/compiled from that thread
1. Load NCSExpert.
2. Load Profile and select Expertmode (* note untick manipulation)
3. F1 (VIN/ZCS/FA)
4. F3 (ZCS/FA f .ECU)
5. Choose R50
6. Select EWS
7. F6 (BACK)
8. F4 (Process ECU)
9. Select the Module I want to Revert back to Stock. (Bc1)
10. F2->Choose "SG_Codieren->ok
11. F3->to start coding the ecu with factory settings according to the vehicle ZCS.

Update.....
Touched base with the previous owner, to find out he had some 'module' replaced when the brake lights kept sticking on.... My thought it was the BCM that was replaced.... and I suspect he likely put the wrong one in, possibly causing my issue!! (which is likely why I accidentally chose the wrong variant when making my changes too!)
He is supposed to be looking, as he is pretty sure he has the one that was taken out. Hopefully he can find it, as I am confident that the brake light issue was the x15 connector....

Timely, sort of.
just noticed Alex’s car (06) does the same as you were saying. Rear fog switch on, then puddles do work,
rear fog switch off/car off/“lights off etc, no door puddles.
does your rear fog still work now with your original BCM? Or is it back to coded off.?
I know they were working before I coded rear fog on, so I’m going to have to go figure out if there is something screwy with the bcm coding and remember what variant of bcm it is. One of the very later ones.

Rear fog is working fine.
What I had before, was rear fog, puddles on with the rear fog switch (puddles stayed on with doors closed as long as the rear fog was on)
I suspect there was some pinout mis-match with the incorrect ECM
As posted in a different post i had going - my AC works now too!!! (and my rear defroster)
Its amazing how much was messed up with the wrong BCM. The BCM was replaced because the brake lights werent turning off, and I suspect that was caused by the heavily corroded X15 connector.

Well I figured it out.
Alex’s was the same as yours. Puddles tied to rear fog switch incorrectly.
I resolved by creating a second revtor profile in ncs expert, then editing profile (password REPXET) and turning off manipulation for that profile (and renamed it revtor no manipulation, lol.) you can’t simply sg codeiren to get back to stock with out a “no manipulation” profile enabled.
then I read the bc1 and then sg codeiren the bc1 which will return it to stock configuration as per zcs.
boom problem fixed.
door lights work , rear fog disabled, all changes I’ve made went back to stock.
then changed profiles back to regular revtor or expert mode and went back and did the 3 truly needed changes again, front fogs NAS not active, rear fog active, and double impulse warn blink active.
still works.
so it really wasn’t the bc1 at all, but the bc1 coding being corrupted which tied the two pin outputs together, when they shouldn’t have been.
