Looking for some performance mods for my 2012 JCW

Hi, Looking for some performance and cosmetic suggestions for my 2012 factory stock JCW. Would prefer not to get a tune as i suspect this would void the factory warranty. Have read conflicting posts stating without a tune the factory setting will adjust for better airflow etc and adjust to remain at the stock power level. Would seem pointless to purchase any performance mods if that were the case, so rather confused.

I know this is rather vague but just looking for some input thanks

Basically, without a proper tune things like Intake and Exhaust upgrades are purely for noise and asthetics. You may find slightly better response or negligible gains.

How much warranty do you have left? A '12 has got to coming up here soon. Welcome to the forum Outlander... err I mean Sassenach.

You can take a look at our parts catalog and see what type of aftermarket performance parts we offer. If you are also wanting to do any DIY with these parts, let us know. We just got in an R56 JCW of our own and will be adding a lot of tech articles to our R56 Mini articles here. Let us know what you would like to know how to do on your JCW and we will add it to the list!

For asthetics and a better feel i was thinking of replacing the JCW steering wheel with the GP2 version. It appears that the wheel is grey with red stitching. Maybe thats just the pic? If it is grey i am wondering how it will go with the rest of the black interior?
http://s3.motoringfile.com.s3.amazon...INI_JCW_GP.jpg

The Mini is my wifes daily driver so i can't mod it to any great extent. We both like the exhaust sound, a little louder with more of the signature Mini burrble and pops would be nice though. I drive a very heavily modded Ford Lighting so do not want to go to far down that road again.

So GP2 steering wheel, GP2 diffuser to start with. Then when the warranty runs out perhaps a larger intercooler with a nice street tune.

Is it worth replacing the stock JCW intake system?

Thanks for the link Pelican Parts.

Yes Grizld700 the name is from Outlander, I am a Scot and the Mini is English, welll sort off lol. So the name fits well i thought

I am now at 5K from new and my main issue and disappointment is the lack of power and torque of the JCW engine above 4000 rpm. There is really not much that happens over that.

I have ordered the JB+ after reading positive comments. If it brings an added 20 hp and about the same increase in torque, I believe I could be happy. I will see when it will be installed.

As for cosmetics, the Coupe options are pretty limited to the fixed wing and it doesn't fit well with the overall design of the car.

Remember when installing the JB+, you will not see immediate results until the ECU adjusts to the new values. Usually 50 miles, give or take.

^You shouldn't have to wait for DME adaptations to see results from the JB+. The other piece of the puzzle for better performance is a more efficient intercooler. Stay 'tuned' for an intro deal on our V3 cooler later this week!

Little cosmetic stuff I did: British Flag side scuttles (Ebay) in red/white/blue for $90, takes 10 miniutes to install, look great on my gray JCW.

1. ECS CF CAI Intake

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...er-intake.html

2. Headlight / Taillight Blackline trims for looks.

You have the FJCW exhaust which sounds great once it warms up, hit the sport button for the pops and burble.

3. GP2 rear diffuser , front belly pan.

4. +1 on the GP2 steering wheel, much thicker and feels great:

If you're looking for performance without a tune the Intercooler would be the best place to start.
Intakes just don't give you any real gains so save your money.

The GP diffuser kit looks great and works well.

I love my GP steering wheel, but the JCW steering wheel is a little more cost effective, but not as fat as the GP wheel.

Feel free to give us a call and we'll help you make a plan that will get the gains you are looking for.

THE MOD STRIPES to improve air flow over the body. I removed mine. Looks better. Yours might look better too.

The stripes have zero effect on air flow over or around the car Joey.
