That blackline look

Hey !

So I want to convert my MCS chrome parts to black. I like OEM parts, not painted OEM parts

So I wandered on ECS website and found out the following

51130417135 - Upper Grille JCW (BLACK)
51130442011 - Lower Grille JCW (BLACK)
51132296297KT - Rear taillight trim Blackline
51132254895KT - Front headlight trim Blackline

However the grille are spec'd as being BLACK CHROME and the light trims are spec'd as being BLACK LINE.

I'd like to know if anybody can confirm or infirm that these parts have the same finish. From the naming, it almost appears as the grille really are black tinted chrome and the trims are glossy black.

Last thing I want, is to spend a bunch of money and have mismatched finishes on my car. I'm really picky about these details I know that most people probably wouldn't see any difference but I know I will see it if there is and it will definately bother me.

Also I might want to get a set of gloss black scuttles, are there any OEM alternatives ?

Lastly, does the headlight washer cap (only on HID) exist in Blackline ?

I've seen the black chrome grill... your assumption is correct its different from gloss black.

The newer Justa fender grills are popularly used for a gloss black detail.

Photoshop, what do you guy think... Stay chrome or go all black ? Thing I really hate about black trims is with the headlight. Unless going with black headlight I think it looks aweful ... And i'm not down at all for joey modding my headlights.

Black it out. I wouldn't do the door handles since its a pain in the rear. But gas cap is okay to do but I didn't do my handles and gas cap.

the rear black setup is very nice IMO but the front is disgusting. Looks like a girl with too much makeup.

Not sure how it'd look, if I only did the rear part of the blaking out ...

Panda eyes. I'd do body color on those rings if you want to remove chrome.

WFMini CooperS -

These above are for the Gen 2 + R56 R55 R57 R58 R59 for the headlight rims. Taillights black line is for the R56 R57 R58 R59 ( not the R55 Clubman taillights ).

For the R53 and Gen 1 MINIs. They have the stock chrome ones , but no factory blackine ones like the R56+ has.

But there are some options; we now how Helix projection blackout headlights that have the black trim all in one and its very close to the finish of the R56+ Factory Blackline MINI ones. These are halogen H7 headlights and have the US light cutoffs. These also don't have the headlight washers. These are styled after the 7/2004 Factory MINI projector headlights and are manual adjustable for leveling.

Fits R50 R52 R53 MINIs. Gen 1 ( Not gen 2MINIs )

Fits R50 R52 R53 MINIs. Gen 1 ( Not gen 2MINIs )

With chrome rings , but have black out centers. Gives you another option on looks.
