Clue me in. Why would you want to delete the wiper if it was not a totally stripped race car? If I remember my 15 years in Boulder and Lafayette, it does snow and make a mess out there. Rear wipers are rather handy.
I guess if rear wiper delete is your thing what a great cheap solution. However, I cannot imagine not having my rear wiper in the winter. I use it all the time when it is snowing. Without it I would not be able to see out the back window. Kinda dangerous without it IMO.
if its so dangerous, why don't all cars have them?
As mentioned before, it's a nice feature to have on the mini since the rear gets so dirty really quick, but looking at the side mirrors helps too, IMO.
also, to add, he's in Colorado. winters are probably hell there. If its the look you are going for, why judge a person?

Even rear wipers on other cars, I never used them...just don't like them. I've had this car 11 months now, and turned on the rear wiper once, to see if it worked.
Yea, I live in Colorado, and yes it does snow here. But the MINI is in a garage, so snow doesn't stay on it too long. I drive a company car for work, and when the snow is really so bad I'd need a rear wiper on the MINI, then I just drive my 4Runner or stay home. I've never, in my 34 years of driving in Colorado, been faced with a situation where a rear wiper was the difference between safe and unsafe.
The idea of deleting the rear wiper on cars is nothing new, been going on for years, it's an aesthetics thing. I was just showing an inexpensive alternative to shelling out $25.00 plus shipping. Not to mention the fact its much less obtrusive looking than the canned products...if you actually have an aesthetic eye for things.

Nice man, I shave mine in the same way (LV does not get a lot of anything but heat).
If you think you might need the wiper because of the area you live in... keep it on and stop acting like removing it is the weirdest thing ever. Seriously.

Sketch,
I was not attacking the OP, I just did not understand his logic. It would seem this is an occasional car, not the daily work horse and not driven in inclement weather. I can understand that. Not my choice, but I can understand.

Drove a truck in Minnesota for many years. The box in back rendered the rearview mirror useless. You, of course, manage with the side mirrors. Wifey has a PT Cruiser with a rear wiper that is rarely used even by her.
I shaved the wiper on my MINI (A) because I don't use it, (B) because I like the way it looks without it, and (C) because I could. By all means, if you use your rear wiper and like it, do so. Try not to be so hard on us that choose the alternative. Good luck.

Both from Lowes, a 1" plastic hole plug, and a 3/8" automotive trim fastener (for the water line). Each packet comes with 2ea, so you can do 2 wiper deletes. A little black RTV under the lip of the hole plug before popping it in, and a little cleanup on the glass with some WD40 (excess RTV).
Thanks for sharing, that's exactly what I need. Nice clean look without any fasteners showing.
I live in Colorado, and have taken the rear wipers OFF of all 5 cars that I have had come with one. I cant stand the fugly look of the thing dangling off the rear window. Yes the window does get dirty in rain and snow but, you need to figure the rear glass dosent have the protective laminate that the front windshield does. I have seen many cars that use their rear wipers have scratched the he11 out of the glass just with the road grime.
+1 i think im gonna get what he got and drill it out hahahah perfect idea!
yup. i want like a BMX headset cap with a hollow allen bolt instead of the regular one. Tighten it down, and slap on the hose...but ill keep looking
edit: doesnt take care of what i want, but looks cool..

Yeah, what he or she said. Thinking about picking this up and doing this in the morning when I get of work. Then I will cancel my order for the wiper delete kit I have on a wish list.
+1 on the wiper delete. if a 240 exige (my dream car) doesnt have one, i can afford to ditch mine as well. BTW i too did a bike headset... for those mountain bikers out there... i used blingy chris kings! My bike doesnt even have chris king headsets :(
You got to be careful you are someone else doesn't accidentally activate the rear washer. My friend and I have both done this and I can hear my washer motor painfully buzzing. Having a properly plugged tube cant be good for the motor... having a non properly plugged tube, well that cant be good either! Regardless, at some point, the motor stopped working for me and the windshield liquid was not moving (tested it after routing the rear washer tubing to spray intercooler, could not stand having a non functioning ****) Eventually (I dont know how) I got it working again but up until that point, I thought I had done some irreversible damage to the pump.

I don't have the part number for the hose plug, bought that earlier when I was trying another "experiment" which is below, and I threw that receipt out along with the little baggie. but the part number for the 1" hole plug is 139483. On each side of the 1" hole plug is small gripper tabs...bend them out ever so slightly to get a better grip on the glass. It will grip the glass right at the very top of those tabs.
