Ok, mine is along the same track now. Managed to squeak in a change to my order, and it is now stated at the same stage as yours. Woo hoo, at least it's scheduled for production.

Antberrie I'm super excited you got your JCW!

It's mixed feelings for me as it appears my car is still in status 155 for 24 days now. Of all the MINI's I've ordered this sort of delay at that stage has never happened. To me it says there was a major problem or fault found with the car and it's been pushed off to the side. If that's actually the case I doubt I'll be willing to accept that car.

Don't feel bad. I am still scheduled for production with no confirmed date, meaning probably September to get my car when I ordered it in March. At least the moved forward in getting me a production slot, just have no idea when.

Mine is still stuck on order for the last 4 weeks or so. My dealership had a June allocation for a 2016. Sales guy speculated that they are waiting to switch over to the 2016's?

Do you have a production number or VIN yet? The dealership can look at their ordering system and it'll say exactly when the car is scheduled to be through final assembly, along with the BMW production status number (e.g. 87, 112, 155, etc).

Your sales guy doesn't need to speculate; he can see it all on his monitor. They're already building MY16's, we just don't know if it's a mix of '15 and '16 or if it's switched to exclusively '16's now.

Nice day here, so I'm thinking of driving to the dealer to see if my car is there. The truck left Baltimore on the 8th....

If you went to MCM I must've missed you, as I stopped by there too to try to straighten out my situation. It's not pretty either; my car went from status 160 on 16June but is now status 155 with a strange "/quality check" suffix on the status line, but zero notes as to why it's taking coming up on 4 weeks for a quality check. Normally if there's a snafu [e.g. wrong steering wheel installed] they'll put that in the notes so there's history of why the car had to be reworked. Mine has no notes whatsoever. It's an enigma. The dealership GM is trying to get the right person at MINI corporate on the horn to get a straight answer, but at this point there can't be any excuse other than incompetence as to why a car would be sidelined for 4 weeks for no disclosed reason. I can't blame the dealership at all for this; they're trying as hard as they can to find out what the situation is. At this point the factory has totally dropped the ball. IMO the second day after sidelining the car they should've assigned the VIN to a fresh shell and started over so they could fulfill a sold order. There's no good excuse for this delay at a modern plant.

In better news; your car was listed as being scheduled to arrive the 13th, that's today!

If I was you I would walk. Check your contact to see if you can. This will give you enormous leverage with MINI. Also give your dealer something to work with.

Magically, after a couple emails, the car was released to distribution, without a single word about why it was held. My salesman is still trying to get a real answer out of the factory.

Obviously, this car will be scrutinized extensively when it finally arrives.

I have a theory that the car was on display for the factory tours, which ironically was cancelled on me while I was in England. "What dumb bloke would order a JCW without a sunroof? We'll push it off to the gift shop, there's no way it's a sold order." =P

That's exciting. The blood can finally flow. Just remember to breath! :-)

They have already had my whole dashboard apart on mine. Mini Canada have no way to speed up the ship of the new ROM. They are backordered (as you pointed out in your other post). Hopefully guy C will get it in a week and the they will send it out. If it does not fix the problem I will walk though.

Great news on yours. I'm sure it will be perfect and Fun!

Well with mine already in the gift shop, they didn't need another one.

Let us know when yours is ready for delivery!

No sunroof

[QUOTE=Ryephile"What dumb bloke would order a JCW without a sunroof? =P[/QUOTE]

ME!!! No way that I want 100+ lbs in the worst possible area of the car. Not that I'll ever race it, plus I don't like the double glass opening. More chances for both rattles and water leaks. One of the reasons I won't order the Premium package too. If you all enjoy the sunroof, fine but it's just not for me. One less problem I believe.

Ok guys it was a JOKE. None of my 6 MINI's have had sunroofs, but nevertheless solid roofs are still fairly uncommon, hence the joke.

Interesting about the 100lbs although that sounds exaggerated. If it was 100 it would really effect the handling - Like having a small teenager strapped to the roof. That's huge!

Think about it, two large pieces of glass plus the strengthening supporting material, motor and other extra parts. 100 lbs might be light of the actual. At one time, I heard that it was closer to 200 lbs. Even if there was only a 20 lbs, difference, I'd still delete it.

The 1st gen MINI [R50] was rumored that the sunroof weighed 70-odd pounds. Two pieces of glass actually aren't that heavy, so adding in the mechanism and whatnot it seems like a plausible number.

You either want it or you don't. Those of us using weight and CoG as reasons against probably don't want one anyway [sun in eyes, expensive, maintenance concerns, whatever]. For the majority that want one, I capacitate the desire. A couple of my cars in the past have had sunroofs, so I "get" it, even if I'm not a fan. For the record, I prefer a convertible to a sunroof, so as such I like my tin-tops full-on tin-top.

MoBoost. Great News! If you have driven an F56 MCS it would be nice to compare if you can remember what that was like.
Look forward to your observations!

Lucky! Need pictures and driving impressions!

My JCW has now jumped to status 190, which seems curiously quick going from 155 to 190. Still no excuse from the factory, and after talking to a few friends that work in local auto plants it seems improbable I'll ever find out unless I can spot something during inspection. Most factories appear to keep internal records that even the OEM HQ aren't privy to unless there's a federally mandated recall.

It could've been something basic like the battery was dead, or a single wrong wheel. Or it could've been when they started the car the oil line to the turbo broke and drained all the oil and the engine seized. I might not ever find out. I've asked my salesman if an extended warranty to prove confidence in the build is a reasonable request, but he doesn't feel MINIUSA would be cooperative. This might not turn out well if I don't get either a straight answer or a token of confidence.
