JCW 2011+ N18 JCW Engine Tuning Kit Air Filter

The new JCW N18 (tuning kit) OEM Air Box has a flat filter like the stock box. The old JCW N14 Air box has the cone which is the one to have. It looks like you can order the N14 JCW Airbox but need the N14 bottom housing which would need to be replaced on you N18. I was told this will work and has been done. Parts department confirmed that these 2 parts will fit together (N14 JCW upper housing and N14 stock lower housing), you will just have the new N14 and your old N18 upper housing left over.
I just want to make sure the lower bottom housing fits up to the N18 brackets/mounting points...
I just posted a new thread on this...
N14 JCW intake (JCW AI PN: 13720429380) Can be bought at Way Motor Works

N14 Stock Intake (Intake Muffler PN: 13717577509) get at dealer or used....

That's okay.
As an update, I have asked ECS Tuning about this and they said the stock airbox from N18 Cooper S and Factory JCW and GP2 are all the same. It is also the same as the N18 JCW Tuning Kit Airbox except the N18 JCW Tuning Kit Airbox has a JCW logo and the filter is exactly the same as K&N Filter Part Number 33-2936.
I got a GP2 as well and I just got the K&N Filter above, so essentially, I now have the N18 JCW Tuning Kit Airbox minus the JCW logo.
Hope that helps!

OK, cool thanks, I spoke with them too and you're right, no difference in the N18 air boxes but they are both flat filters, the JCW Tuning Kit for the N14 was a round cone filter and that what I want on my GP2... so I have to replace the botom section on the airbox so It will fit the upper portion on the N14 JCW Kit air box with the round filter... Im just looking to see if everything will bolt up and that the N14 and N18 botom sections have the same mounting brackets..... here is the N14 JCW upper intake housing...

The N14 JCW Stage 1 Round Cone filter has a surface area of ~ 101 sq in
The N14 and N18 flat panel filters have ~ 81 sq in
So about 19 sq in more cold air flow.
I am looking into fitting a cone filter in the Stock N14/N18 box and saving myself roughly $320 not having to buy the JCW intake box and gasket.
I need to take some measurements of the stock upper and lower housing to see if a 7inch long cone with roughly 4.6inch diameter will fit. Then work on a hose to adapt from it to the MAF connection.
If a cone that size will fit, it should not cost more than $70 in parts to make it all work together including a higher flowing, survivable Amsoil or K&N filter.
I have searched but not had any luck finding someone who has tried this.
