R53 JCW Chip Upgrade?

Wondering if anyone has "chipped" their R53 JCW?

I did a search, but couldn't find any info on chips for anything other than the S.

Thanks in advance.

There are many R53's out there with ECU tunes on them.

I would suggest going to RMW for the best tune out there!

Mini's are not chipped...
The computers are flashed....
And the jcw flash or tune is not as agressive as a custom tune....

Thanks., Custom tune will be difficult to find. I'll search the local forum.

We've tuned many R53 JCW cars. For someone far away your best option is one of our quicktunes. You ship us your ECU and we flash it and ship it back.

im still looking to get the dealer to "GP" tune my JCW. The GP's have that extra 10hp and 500 rpms on the redline. it Has to come from the computer, as no other engine components are different, save for the IC, which i dont see giving someone 10hp!

problem is, every time i mention "GP" tuning my car, everyone chimes in with "just get a custom tune!" that is fine and dandy, but i dont quite have $500+ to blow on that just yet :P

the IC on the gp could be giving the extra 10hp. with the difference in the pressure drop and the added tubes would give a regular jcw a little more hp. as far as the 500 rpms i think you are right about something on the computer because i dought a basic engine mod and alter the red line.

When comparing tunes, that extra 500 rpms makes comparing the hp hard...
A custon tune MAY give you an extra 500 rpm, no problem....
those of us around since the early days recall that mini's with the same motors were given different redlines based upon the markets they were shipped too and the warrenty's in those markets....about 500-1000 rpms is pretty safe, but for most drivers, the few extra hp at the top end is not very usable....for pure #'s standpoint it sounds good, but the extra tq at lower rpms adds loads to drivability....so imo the extra $500 on the custom tune is better spent than the $250 or IF you can ralk yourself into a gp tune....the fact you can get the dsc/traction control and acclertor pedal response tweaked a bit is icing on the cake.

i agree, the torque at hp at the top is not quite there, but it would look good to have that redline above 7k plus you can say "im GP tuned".

other than that, i could see the IC maybe giving 5hp, and the extra 500 rpms giving the other 5hp, but i really cant see the IC giving a straight up 10hp, or everyone would have a GP IC i bet! if that was IT, i will just have to save up and get one!

FYI you can't just get a GP tune. The ECU in the GP is totally different, has different hardware and software than the standard JCW. The dealer def won't be able to give you a GP, let alone any of the GP maps. That is something we would have to do on an individual map basis.

The thing about a custom tune that is beneficial is not just the gain at the top end, but the increase in midrange power. Makes it much more usable around town.

the GP really has a different ECU? are you sure about that? why would mini do that? seems like a Huge waste of resources to make a whole new computer for a limited production car.

why would the GP even Need different hardware on its ECU? it has the Same engine as the JCW...

I'd tune it up 2nd.
