Best place to get JCW Recaro's?

What is the best place to get the JCW Recaro's? Can they only be ordered from over in Europe?

Yes, they can be ordered from a MINI supplier from across the pond; expect a large price tag for them.

Call Terry here: http://g-werke.com/products.cfm

He will sell you the same Recaros for a lot less than the UK JCWs only difference being they will be labeled Recaro and not JCW.

+1 on Griffin Motorwerke. I bought the Recaro Sportster CS from him about 6 months ago and love it.

I'm tempted to change my order from Lounge Leather back to cloth and pick up the JCW Recaro's at the dealer. It'll only be about a grand more if I do that.

There are a few pictures in Orangecrush's rebuild thread . . .

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ld-begins.html

I know there are others but I don't remember in which threads off the top of my head.

Your seats have MINI approved air bags and all connections to be mounted in MINI?
Did you do install by your self?

The Recaro Sportster CS does not have the side air bag, and the air bag sensor needs to be fixed so it doesn't light up.

I did the install myself. Not a super difficult task, but ran into a few small challenges. First, extend the stock seat into the highest position possible before you remove it. This allows you to access the bolts to remove the stock sliders. After that it is fairly straight forward. The other issue I had was that the plastic hinge cover on the tunnel side of the drivers seat blocked the stock seat belt receptacle/tensioner, but that was easily fixed by removing it (its not really visible once installed).

Well, after all http://www.schmiedmann.com/ price and shping (to Canada) ends up being a better option knowing I am getting OEM seat (with air bag and all original harness).

Problem with g-Werke is that their seat is not the same as JCW as you mentioned, and that they quoted me almost $300 to ship it to Canada by worst possible courier (ups) that charges extra brokerage fees once the goods cross the boarder. So, I am estimating that after paying $1500 for the driver's seat (only), $300 for ups and almost $400 for brokerages fee and usual Canadian tax the seat will be far more money than ordering from schmiedmann and paying less for shipping from Danmark... And I won't have the air bag that I would not give up for a pleasure of having a cool sport seat...

Makes sense.

I'm near to Griffin, so I had the advantage of no shipping or duties. I made the change primarily for use on the track, as the stock leather seat was like sitting on a Teflon pan when on track.

Don't the OEM ones also come with the heating option built in? I'm thinking about ordering my car with the standard seats and doing the swap right away.

It looks like its $3,380.70 shipped to California, so minus the $1,500 for the leather option and I'm at $1,880.70 more for Recaro's. Looking at it that way makes it very tempting lol.

Where are you ordering them from? You did try Schmiedmann’s right? They have the best prices.

And the logic you used for the seats is fantastic, great idea!

I have 'em on my 2014 JCW Coupe. They were $2900 (heated, they better be for that price!). No problems, very comfortable. There is no lumbar support if that matters to you.

Was this $2900 a seat or for the pair? Where did you order yours from and any problems with the install? I want to just add only the driver's seat as my next project. I currently have heated seats so would like to keep that function.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Best,

James

Mine came with the car as an option, for $2900. The seating surface is black alcantara, the bolsters and headrest are black leather.

Mine don't look like these, the headrests are round and say JCW on them. The bolsters on these are thinner than mine too. I don't have those holes on top either. Similar shape but not the same. The JCW seats on the new F56 (not realased yet) are way different still.
