Looking at this JCW

I am debating buying this 2006 Mini Cooper JCW, does this seem like a good price?

53k miles
Hyper Blue Metallic
White Roof and Stripes
Union Jack Mirrors
JCW Kits
- Engine Kit
- Sports Brake Kit
- Limited Slip Differential
- Aero Kit
- Carbon Fiber Dash Kit
English Panther Black Leather Int.
Harmon Kardon Sound System
Armrest and Cupholder
Cockpit Chrono Package
Panoramic Roof
Rally Fog Lights

The car is a one owner car, bought locally and serviced locally at the Mini dealership. Clutch replaced last year, brand new tires on the car, 2nd set of Mini wheels w/ runflats, and the car itself is in excellent condition. No dents, scratches, wear marks, etc... The car is in excellent condition and I have driven it, drives good and looks good. The car has the original window sticker of ~ $35k.

Asking $15.9k for the car, I am hoping to get that done some, just wasn't sure if this sounded like a good price/deal to this community who is more familiar with these cars and their market values.

Sounds great to me. I don't have a JCW, mine is a 2003 cooper S, but I paid only slightly less than that in DEC 2008.

From what I have read the 2005-2006 model years incorporated fixes to all the problems Mini's had previously.

Looks great, I'd try to knock down the price a little. But don't wait too long, I bought mine a few years ago , and later met someone complaining he was going to buy the car ,within days it was gone, I beat him to it

Looking at this JCW

Kelly Blue Book says for the San Francisco CA area:
16500 (private party) to 20500 (Dealer) for a similar equipped car in excellent condition.
If you like it buy it as it seems to be a decent car and a good price.

Hope this helps...

Now that is a smoking deal...I wouldn't be asking people for their opinion if this car had a $10k price tag. To me it seems like a fair deal, just not a great deal.

I think it's smoking deal as you said. I have the original invoice, the total is showing $38,000 ******ng grand. I don't know why this cost so much.
She was in the divorce proceeding and dumped the car. I can show you the invoice. I paid in cash and left in hurry. No lie.

Interesting take.

Rather than going by original invoice, I tend to judge value by the market price via eBay or Craigslist, for example.

I've been looking for a 2006 JCW myself, and find $16k to be fair, but not extraordinary. (If it's pristine, then that's a different story.) Most, if not all, of the 2006 MINIs are now off the factory warranty, which has put pressure on pricing, of course.

For example, I was watching a similarly configured 2006 JCW with 60k miles, also in TX, which recently sold for under $13k:

Is it at a dealer? or privite? Have your local dealer run the Vin to see the service history.. Check the strut mounts, look at the engine mounts for leaks. lift the carpets for flood damage. Mostly, run the carfax on it. Even if you have to pay for it yourself.. small price to pay for finding that someone may have had a awesome bodyshop in the past...
