2010 JCW after tint - pics

38% all around - dark cloudy day - I'll replace these when i get a sunny day! Pre-tint pictures on a nice sunny day are in my gallery.

Let me know what you think!

Looks great! I love your JCW! I have 35% on my front windows and 20% on the back. Not too dark in the front and I love it.

Looks great, the tint looks perfect and I love the color of your Mini. I think I would strongly consider Hz Blue if I was in the market for a Mini now.

Thanks!

Thanks folks! I'm loving it too! Can't wait until I get 1,200 miles on it...

Wondering what I might do next...audio upgrade (just have the base), maybe spring for the JCW Aero Kit w/ the painted wheel trim...

Post your pics when yours comes in!

How do you upgrade your audio? I have a 2010 Mini Cooper (non "S"), with the base audio, and wondered if there was any options for an upgrade, and if it's even worth it?

Onefish2,

I love what you've done with your car... tint, the new body kit. The JCW kit looks a lot better than the aero kit (which I have). Just don't make me feel bad for the aero kit either, like how you did with the JCW stage 1.

-- Has anyone tinted their sunroof? Looking at these tints, the most sunlight that will come in is probably through the top... even with the sunshade.

I'll post up pics of my car later... I've got 20% tint front and back.

Rotadent, I was not busting on you. I really was confused as to why you bought the JCW stage 1 kit. But you explained yourself and now its clear. Doing all this stuff is a learning process. Some of us get to our desired results quicker and spend less money doing it. I tend not to be in that club. Time to plant another money tree in my back yard .

Thanks for the compliments. I still miss the factory aero kit and still wonder why I spent all the money swapping it over to the JCW aero kit.

Back on topic now. I have 20% tint on both panels of the sun roof. If you can go darker you should. That was the first thing I said to my self was hmmm... should have gone darker. But some tint shops do not want the liability if the dark tint and the heat of a hot car make the sunroof glass shatter.

They all look great! Just got a citation on my tint on HWY 5 last week, the CHP actually turned around on the medium and came after me! Thought it was my speed but got me on tint. Have to remove it and pay $25. California is broke, guess they need every penny!

You mean you have to remove tint from the front windows right? AFAIK it's legal to tint as dark as you on the rear and back windows in CA.

Sorry to hear about the ticket.

It is illegal to tint the front windows in California. Back windows are fine, however dark you want them.

It's at least cheaper to get a fix-it ticket than a speeding ticket. But I have heard that they have been handing out speeding tickets more. Apparently, "tickets have been a good source of money, without raising taxes." I heard that from an insurance agent who has been seeing a lot of his clients get ticky-tack speeding tickets. He also said these were clients who haven't had speeding violations in years.

Just the front ones, but it looked so cool! And I was almost to my destination. I've heard the same thing, their handing out more tickets than ever for anything! The officer was very nice but its the law so I'll remove it

When the CHP pulled me over for my tint he didin't ask me to sign anything so did I really get a citation? He said to expect it in the mail then go to the nearest CHP and have them write it off, send the paperwork in with a check. Don't you have to sign something when they pull you over or has it changed? Never gotten a ticket before!

This is confusing. I read that it is illegal to tint the front windows in California. But the tint shops show me the law and say that you can have clear or up to 75% light transmission tint on the front windows. They claim that even with a super light tint, there is a 43% heat rejection factor. So which is it? Can you have some tint on the front windows as long as it's super light? Or can you have clear? Or nothing of any substance at all?
