You mean, like the MINI accessory?

Not sure if that'll work with the aero kit though. What about Colgan?

What about a clear bra? A clear bra would be a lot less work and hassle... And look A LOT better!

True...hard to find a guy in my area thats worth anything. Had Venture shield put on the Vette...what a mess. Went thru two diffrent certified installers and the first guy did such a bad job I thought it was a joke. The second guy got it on the 3rd try and it OK but I am far from really happy. That is my first choice...may have to drive a distance to find a guy. Looks like I don't have a choice anyway no bra's for the JCW..

You realize that vinyl bras like the Colgan are only meant to stay on for no more than a day before removal. Otherwise they start to damage the paint, and they can mold if they get wet. I had one for my M3 but only used for highway road trips and at the track.

Yeah....thats actually what I intended to use it for. I am taking quite a long trip the first week of december, about 2,500 miles and wanted protection. I have a custom paint shop so I could repair damage but I hate chips. I am reading the Mini is prone to rock chips so I wanted to do something.

Yeah, I've been told the paint is soft, definitely not as durable as my M3 (the M3 cost $25K more too). I've been very pleased having a clear bra. I did a road trip from St. Louis to the Atlanta area and back, and it help up very well. Hope you can find a decent installer. We're lucky in St. Louis in that we have a very good one.

Where in FL are you? We'll be road tripping it to Sebring next March.

Why would MINI paint be any different than BMW paint? Being it the same company don't you think there would be a match in formulas from at least a procedure point of view. Why not standardize for manufacturing flexibility, fewer spare parts for the paint operations needed at various plants and overall ease of suppliers. Even some of the shared colors use the same paint color code if not the same marketing name.

My JCW was $34K. My M3 was $59K. Why wouldn't the paint on the M3 be better quality (and more expensive)? I expect it to be. A lot of other materials on the M3 are also higher quality than on the MINI, even stuff like the interior carpeting. As it should be.

Want better paint? Buy a better car.

On the Corvette ZR1, there's a clear coat additive used to protect the CF panels from UV. It costs $60K/gallon. Better cars get better stuff.

Were very involved in the Corvette world....and I can tell you the 60K is true but, that was in the development stage..I think GM used it to hype the ZR1. Production cost are now 2K per gallon. Still expensive!!!!!!!!

We install clear bras and if you feel like making a trip to ohio it would be worth it , you would be a happy motoring.

I have clear bra installed on the hood, fenders, bumpers (front and rear) and highly recommend it.

Not really sure that is the case unless you have a problem or from what I hear the Mini is prone to chips, maybe due to the configuration. I just purchased paint for my JCW when I painted the JCW body kit and the Dark Grey was a BMW paint code. The clear is where you would see a diffrence but, the Mini is not a budget car and from what I am seeing I think the paint is good quality.

For sure. We love making new friends at the races. Sebring is a blast, although we stay out of Green Park at night.

You know about the huge Corvette Corrals at ALMS races, right? We park at the BMW corral (well, did when I had my M3)-- I hope they let us lowly MINIs in.

Yes the corrals are cool....we parked at the Corvette corall at St.Pete ALMS race. It was cool getting special treatment. Taking the Mini to Seabring...maybe BMW will let us in...

I can tell you that after owning 3 new MINIs with a combined 100,000+ miles, the paint is very SOFT. The paint chips rather easily compared to the 2 Honda S2000s I have owned since 2000. I attempted to install clear bra on my 2003 MCS, but it was a disaster so I aborted.

Needless to say, my 2009 JCW Clubman will DEFINITELY have it............most likely on the entire bonnet and front bumper.......professionally installed.

We also have a good company in Chesapeake Va that installs the clear bras. I 've had done on two cars. Runs about $495.oo. It's UltraShield of Hampton Roads. They do great work. They have a web site.

To believe the M3 would have better paint than say a 328i, 318i, would be fooling oneself (& by extension equating the 'comodity' 3-series quality to Mini if looked @ on a cost basis). My W202 AMG is certainly better equipped in every way with far better seats & leather than a standard W202 with [said] even more welds in the body's construction, but the paint material & application is 100% identical applied on the same assembly line. With BMW so cost conscious, I could not imagine BMW would be different. A visit to BMW parts to attain the paint for an M3 vs. the most budget 3-series would answer for sure.

You don't see many folks using nose masks for MINIs....seems clear bras are much more common.

I keep wondering about a permanent rhino-liner nose mask - no more rock chips http://www.rhinolinings.com/index.php
