I'm sorry but that would just be silly, the point of paint on a car is to look good. If you just coat the front of your car with truck liner, while it wont really chip, it will also look like ****.

 

Rhino-liner doesn't make a coating that isn't textured, which I agree wouldn't be pretty. I guess the look I'm thinking of is a nose mask, but painted, and not just black paint, which would still chip, but something more - maybe plasti-dip? I was looking at my black stripes the other day, imagining how it would look if they flared out to a nose mask shape. I think its worth exploring in photoshop - I just haven't had time.

 

Missed the new comments on this thread. I decided to wait to put clear bra on my car when I find a really good installer. I made my 2,500 mile trip with a couple of rock chips, I resprayed the front bumper and used a high end PPG Clear coat and 2,000 miles later not a single chip.

The durability would come from the quality of the clear coat and notthe paint it self. The clear coat products are pretty expensive when you get to the high end brands and I suspect that the paint may be the same on the BMW & Mini but the clear coats of diffrent quality.
