Would a S Vert with the Sidewalk Package work for you instead?

Waltermb -

Good luck. I had to search for weeks to find my 06 convertible with factory JCW. There seem to be plenty of hard tops with JCW but the convertible variety seems somewhat rare.

Also be cautious: out of 5 that came up during my search, only one was a true factory JCW install. The others were dealership installed despite the sellers' claims otherwise - make sure they have a certificate number and look for those red brakes!

What I wound up doing was taking the VIN numbers of my prospective purchases to my local dealership. They are able to tell what options the mini had when it left the factory as well as the maintenance history. This technique was also helpful because a number of sellers claimed leather seats, when in fact they just apparently couldn't tell the difference between leather and leatherette

A couple of weeks ago, Crevier MINI in CA had a new 2007 MCS Conv, Sidewalk, JCW for sale. It was from the LA Auto Show. Don't know if it is still there.

SUCCESS--I JOIN THE MINI S JCW CONVERT CLUB

Today i bought a 2006 Mini S Convert with factory jcw--5200 miles red with black leather interior with all the main options. The car has 18inch wheels. it also has lambo doors mods--very cool but not sure what they do for the warrantee-2 years to go. my thanks for all the referrals-cant wait to get the car in a few days. robert

Glad you found what you're looking for but I wonder why anyone would take a JCW and add lambo doors to it???

I love to modify but a JCW isn't the one I would add lambo doors to. However, it's your car and as long as your happy... CONGRATS.

Got pics?

Mark

doors

Thanks--will post pictures in a few days. i do agree with you and not sure the previous owner would do a lambo mod--cant say they dont look cool--but am concerned they may create an issue with warrantee. i have the old hinges with the car so may just flip them back. thanks robert

Yeah, I understand. I think lambo doors are cool on certain cars (not sure how'd they look on a mini) but as I get older, I tend to become more of a purist... especially when it comes to specialty cars... ie. JCW mini.

As far as warranty, I would think the only issue would be if you had a problem that was directly related to the doors. (ie. wiring, hinges, locks, etc, etc)

Anything that could be traced to the fact that the lambo doors were installed and caused a problem.

That actually looks good on that car. Having installed many sets of lambo doors on cars at the shop, I personally wouldn't want them. (I take it back, we did install ONE set on a corvette that was fantastic quality and allowed the doors to operate like OEM)

But they do look cool.

Mark

PS. And if I remember correctly, LSD is a good quality kit too.

Congrats!

Waltermb - congrats on finding one, they are not easy to find, especially with such low mileage. I hope you love yours as much as I love mine.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it?

Thanks a lot--been looking for many months to find a loaded one with low miles-so when this one came available with 5000+ miles in mint condition i bought it. paid 29,800 which in my reasearch was about mid point between wholesale and retail-wasnt cheap but i think fair. when i got a quote on a 08 very simular- it was very high 40's-so i think i did ok.

yeah, I'd say you did well.

That's almost exactly what I paid for mine. It had a bunch of other upgrades (upgraded after market audio system, sport link, lo-jack, alarm, etc) but it had a lot more miles on it (20k).

Both these upgrades were done after market by the previous owner.

It is my understanding that the 2006s didn't have an option to have an alarm installed at the factory, but they do come pre-wired for a system. I don't know exactly what type of alarm system mine has, but I can tell you that it's armed when I lock the doors using the Fob, and the couple of times I've accidentally set it off practically made me jump out of my skin.

As for the stereo, the previous owner had pulled out the HK stereo and speakers and installed a Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT with a very large amp under the passenger seat and Boston speakers. It's a nice unit: and he added the XM radio receiver and iPod adaptor. It's way more that I personally would have installed, but I love it. There is just nothing like being able to hear your tunes clearly witht he top down at 120MPH (haven't been brave enough to get over that topless yet)
