two questions on the JCW intake

I searched and still kind of confused

1. do i need ecu flash for the flap to work?

2. about how much extra SC noise do I get if I dump the paper filter and
install a K&N type filter? I don't want alta-loud intake, but I would love to
hear extra SC noise.

No you do not need a ECU flash and yes a more open filter will give you a nice bump in sound. K&N RU 3130 for about $28.00 at AJ USA works great.

Installed the JCW intake in my 05 MCS. Took out the flap. Have the Helix filter. The sound is just right for me, not to loud, just enough especially when you jump on it. Enough of a sound bump that my wife noticed it.
