JCW CF Rear Spoiler

Ok so I waited for over 4 months for the Carbon Fiber rear spoiler, and finally I got it a week ago, the swap was no brainer pop the 4 or 5 rubber caps on the inside of the tailgate, off with the old one and bang the new piece is in, As any JCW piece the part to me looks like art, I know there are people out there that will not like it but to each its own, I was reading the MINI2 forum and I guess people over across the pond do not even like 17" wheels and they frown to 18" all together so here it is, please do not be to harsh if you do not like it.. hehehe I am still rejoicing everytime I go out to drive it.

Bottom line, I like it.

Thank you thank you... Looks good in person..waiting for a nice day off to take some detail shots of the carbon piece which has a beautiful weave of carbon fiber, which matches the scoop and the handle on the tailgate.

that is definitely slick. i love the way all of the jcw pieces look on these cars. i also really like the fact that they are oem and the fit and finish is perfect. your mini is really looking good. keep up the good work with the pics.

Is the black grille surround the 2 pieces that Dan sells for $80? It's not a JCW cf piece is it? I love the spoiler, it's the first pics I've seen of it from a US Mini. So the old one just pops off from the inside, and you just push the new one on, no screws or anything? I ask this because the OEM spoiler has 3 supports, one on each end and one in the middle and the JCW has 2 support in different places. How did you do that mounting job?

Yes, I'd also like some more info if you don't mind. The R53 spoiler involved using an epoxy and if you got it wrong you got a crooked wing.

Looks great! You're doing some really-cool stuff with your car. Keep it up.

For those that don't like it (or other mods): To each his (her) own. That's the cool thing about MINIs: You can do whatever you could want to your car to make it your-own. Who cares what anyone else thinks.

The black trim around the front grille its a 2 piece deal and its NOT carbon fiber, the grille it self on the JCW is a different pattern, with larger honeycomb openings I posted a comparative picture somewhere else on here.

And ..... This spoiler comes attached to the piece which replaces the old spoiler or OEM piece, is held by 5 bolts, and takes about 20 minutes to install, the delicate part is to pray off the little plastic pins which hold the support piece into the MINI but thats it, tighten the bolts pop the rubber caps and you are good to go....

Epoxy? we do not need no stinky epoxy, maybe for the old new mini spoiler but not for these one.

Gotch, you get that shiny long black piece with the JCW spoiler. That makes sense. Was it $500?

Ehh, my Cooper spoiler on my R50 has no epoxy holding it on. The epoxy on the Cooper and S wings on Gen 1 MINIs is just to help the bond, not actually required (I can't speak for the JCW wing though)

Diablito, we're going to start calling you EL DIABLO cause that spoiler looks f'n wicked. I saw one a few weeks ago and that is truly a work of art...

I love the way it fits the body but doesn't over power it.

Great Job.

Well... The JCW rear spoiler on the old new MINI needs epoxy. periot otherwise it does not work well, and the reason is that the new spoiler comes already attached to the spoiler so you do not get ONLY the carbon piece but the piece that goes into the top lid.

diablito: I have a question that I can't seem to answer by looking at RealOEM.com nor above. When you order the wing, does it come with the matching plate for the hatch? Meaning is it carbon fiber too? Or is something that needs to be painted to match? My car has the factory sport wing on it and I can't' figure out how the JCW goes on. Can you shed some additional light on this? Thank you in advance for the help! Car is looking good!

Adam I am sorry I am late responding you question...The JCW wing comes with the base already attached to the 2 pieces that carry the CF piece. Its a pretty stright forward replacement.. unscrew 5 tox's and screw the new spoiler on.

NO GLUE GUN like the older version.

Oh I forgot to mention, my roof is white but I order the black JCW spoiler, to me it matches the already black glass pillars on the rear, and looks great makes the spoiler come out more, I debated abouth this for a while but I am happy with the looks of it.

Ok is Diablito the only person in North America that was able to score this spoiler, or am I the only dork in North America who speced it with his car in December and has yet to receive it?

Could we see it with a side profile shot of the car if you've got one? I'd like to see how it looks from that angle; I'm guessing really good!
