Like to see a side view and the signature has got to go. No extra branding for me please.

Is this a new design of theirs? I wasn't particularly impressed with their last hood scoop iteration. I thought the aesthetics of it were particularly poor. From the side it looked like some sort of a snout. I'd like to see it from the side.

It looks like an expensive piece of decorative carbon fiber to me.

I can't even afford the Paul Smith wallet that would be necessary to hold the platinum AMEX one would need to buy this sort of shiny bauble.

At $365, it's at least somewhat reasonable, if you like it better than the $200 JCW CF bonnet scoop.

But looking at the PU website entry for the scoop, I gotta ask why in the heck did they use a full-size SEVEN MEGAPIXEL picture of the scoop (not a clickable thumbnail), and then use a picture that's so blurry that it never would have made it out of my camera, much less onto a website?

Either of the two pictures you posted would have been better-suited to their website than the monstrosity they used.

One quick question?

I like the look of the scoop, a lot. Is it a exact swap for the stock scoop or is there any modification needed to the hood or the intercooler. I currently have a JCW carbon scoop which may be for sale soon if this is a "plug & play" scoop. I have their wing and the quality was first rate. Plus, I couldn't believe how much cleaner it keeps the boot area .

Thanks, Gene

Only by purchasing the special $300 Palo Uber glasses can you fully appreciate the incredible artistic design of this hood scoop.

a cleaner boot area?!
the dirt is coming from the ground, not the air...
im not convinced...

but if you really are wondering, it's a direct swap.

I personally like SID's design much better for M7. Very clean.

two very different styles. The smooth integrated scoop from m7 for those that just want clean aggresive lines. And then the very agressive and very blatant PU scoop for those that want to say "hey, look at me, i modded my scoop!!"

Just different tuning philosophies

Since the other company who made a similar scoop backed up their claims with actual measurements...i would love to see numbers from PU for those that are strictly concerned with performance.

Cleaner tail

Laugh if you want, but the wing does help keep the entire boot area cleaner, especially the glass. After every drive I used the California Duster, after the wing install I do it now every 2-3 days. If you do a search for these wings, you will see others have reported this as well.

In the rain it also helps keep the glass cleaner, and no I don't work for Palo Uber I just like quality products.

P.S. thanks for the info on the direct swap.

Gene

Having seen the P. U. Wing with my own eyes and being able to compare directly with the M7 and Fireballed I can see how this wing would help keep the back cleaner. The reason why neither the M7 or Fireballed help in clearing the window is they act as wings. They are both high enough off the back to be in the airstream flowing over the top and placed far enopugh rearward on the car to allow air flowing under them to be accelerated creating a low pressure area under them. Exactly opposite how a wing on a flying craft works. Now the P.U. wing has such a steep angle of attack and is placed before the end of the roof line that air hitting it is forced down over the window as well as up. From looking at the P.U. wing it looks a lot more like an airbrake then a wing.

Thats how I think it works. I've done no windtunnel testing. I haven't driven a P.U. wing equiped Mini. All the above is my own conjecture solely from looking at the shape and mounting points of the various wings and my own understanding of fluid mechanics.

Rally Mini, PU wheel problems?

Maybe I spoke too soon, I was just referring to my dealing with PU on their wing. I was looking at their wheels as an upgrade as well and have read positive things about them here on NAM. Are there issues I need to be concerned about? Also, I was looking at RB Rota wheels, know anything about them?

Thanks, Gene

Rally Mini

Thanks for the direction to the thread, doesn't give me a lot of confidence on their wheels that's for sure.

BUMP!

Do you or any others know about the quality of the Rota wheels. They have the RB's coming out next month in 16X7 with gun metal spokes. I like them a lot but the folks I have spoken with don't know much about their quality.

Thanks, Gene

As with any of the cheaper brands of wheels....the quality isnt up to par with wheels like BBS, OZ, or Schmidt....but they arent completely awful for the price. Generally they are painted and have a machined lip instead of the polished lip you see on high end wheels (HRE, BBS, iforged). But the rotas do look good, and are often a very nice lightweight wheel. With wheels, you get what you pay for.

Thanks!

That was my thought as well, the old saying "you get what you pay for" rings true. Think I will stick to a "better" brand of wheel similar to your suggestions and get the quality I want.

Thanks again!

Gene.

Rota's a re nice wheels. I have 2 sets for track use and am happy with them. I do find that every now and again a fter a good hard session that a center cap will pop out. Now I'm running them sans center caps when on the track. But this is not thead to discuss wheel quality as it's really an advertisement thread for the new P.U. C.F. scoop.

Totally off topic emsjr...I noticed your location. I too am orginally from the mythical Hereford Zone. Oh how miss those roads, to flat and straight here in Dallas.
