The rims can be painted but it would be cheaper to buy the rims you want. Painting by a body shop would be expensive.

Thats the route I went. They look great and you would be amazed at the color and texture options. Just like paint, but cheaper and more durable.

GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND - took me about 25 seconds to find these guys - they're referenced on about a dozen car forums and seem to have a good rep.

The chart indicates it only costs about $40-$50 per wheel (plus shipping I assume if you're not near Indy). Heck, that's so cheap *I* might do it on my X-lites. If they only has anthracite... (sigh) Although, if I had them do my X-lites in BLACK that might really be cool... Hmmmmmmmm....

Accorging to the site, stock colore are:

Stock Colors: - Gloss Black, Satin Black, Wrinkle Black, Blue, Red, Gloss White, Yellow, Silver*
*Silver requires a Clear Topcoat. Use 2-stage pricing

Um... those show a 5-bolt lug pattern? I always worry when I see mismatches pics that the seller has no idea what they really have, or that they're misrepresenting the item, so its best to message him and ask I think...

That's a really good price. Did that include having the existing finish stripped/beadblasted off?

I lightly curbed two of my Web-Spokes a few months ago, and as a result, the clearcoat is starting to flake off in pretty large sections. If I could have them beadblasted and powdercoated for $30-50 per wheel, that would be a pretty nice solution.

A friend of mine did his Y-spokes with a rattle can, and they look fine. Of course, they were flat black, and not gloss black.

The $30 included stripping the wheels. They used a chemical strip method for fear the blasting media would pit the soft aluminum.

This is pretty common when buying wheels online. Even at well-established places like TireRack.com, most of the wheels pictured for the MINI will be five-lug. If you order them, you'll get the correct four-lug version, but I guess it's easier for them to just have one picture for each wheel style.

When I took my Panasports to a body shop I was told they could not paint them and they referred me to a wheel-repair vendor instead. I was quoted $125 per wheel to have only the spokes painted black.

Instead, I paid about $90 per wheel to have them powdercoated (color and clear). They had to be powdercoated entirely in one color, though; separate color spokes and rim couldn't be done.

As long as you want your wheels all black, I would recommend powdercoating over paint. Should be more durable. Just make sure they do not powdercoat the inside of the center hole - it could make it too small to fit onto the hub.

Ah - that makes sense... Just wanted to look out for a fellow MINI motorist!

Question for thefuturequeenofnebraska: So you'd powdercoat my Xlites for $40 apeice? Any color? I'm really thinking a nice dark metallic gray (like anthracite) would be lovely on my car... Black would be a bit harsh I think, but dark gray... mmmmmmm....
