Im looking to change out my stock shift **** too. I may go with that Whalen **** i think. The Momo's are nice, i had one on my Corrado. However,

But the problem with those is, after awhile they get loose and spin on the shaft since they arent threaded, they use a universal plastic insert and then are tightened down onto the shiftlever. I want something that attaches exactely like the stock **** and stays in place for good! From what ive read here, the stock **** just pops off upward with some force, and goes back on the same way so should be easy to do.

OH, and good luck with your MINI purchase. Youll love it! But warning, this car is contagious

Whalen, here...

And I couldn't be more pleased. I do worry a little bit if it will be too hot in the summertime, since it's pretty chilly in the winter, but we'll see. It warms up nicely in short order, though, so I expect it will cool down as well.

I recommend a Whalen **** all the way

RCE1 my Whalen doesn't really get hot in the summer & I have a cabrio so it is in full sun 90% of the time. It does, however, get cold in the winter but I kinda like that cause it wakes me up on my drive to work

Another Whalen fan here. I resisted for a long time 'cuz I'm a contrarian at heart. And cheap. Did I forget to mention that I'm cheap? And Whalens aren't cheap. Good value for the money, but not cheap.

Having said that, Doug Whalen is a great guy to deal with and his shift ***** are unbelievably fine. I ended up buying two. A metal one with custom engraving and an 8 ball. If you're concerned about burning or freezing your hand on your shift ****, get a billard ball ****. If that's no issue I'd go for the metal ball. Either way you get Doug's fool proof and elegant mounting system, which in my opinion is worth the price of admission all by itself.

Trying to secure a shift **** with a set screw is just creating an opportunity for your **** to come loose at the worst possible moment. And you'd just hate having your **** come off. I know I would.

By all means go with a Whalen. I just got my "8 Ball" billard ball **** And it took longer to get it out of the box than it did to install it. Doug's connection to the stalk is a work of art. You won't regret it!!!

Whalen Whalen Whalen

I have 2 and I don't even have my MINI anymore. They can be custom engraved, and Doug is doing some really cool other stuff nowadays.

Whalen! You know you want it!

I got one as a gift. After installing it weeks later, I said to myself, "This is functional bling!" Very nice shift action with the weighted ****. As for too hot or too cold? Well, it's great practice to keep you hand on the wheel and not resting on the shift ****. Makes for less heavy handed shifting as well.
