JCW E-brake and shift **** install questions
I got the e-brake handle, shift **** and alcantara boots. Two issues....the e-brake handle doesn't snap in like the stock one does. It seems that there's no mechanism to hold it in place. The install PDF says to coat the metal rod with 'Sikaflex' before sliding it over. Any ideas on this? Second issue - the plastic cover for the lower part of the shift **** doesn't snap in either. All the parts were in sealed boxes ordered from Classic MINI.

The JCW e-brake handle won't snap in. What I did was wrap the lever with just enough duct tape so that I could twist the handle on and it would hold tight. Others have used electrical tape. The Sikaflex is basically epoxy so if you ever want to take the JCW part off, you'll be outta luck
Hope that helps
Oh, and what part of the shift **** cover are you talking about?

the lower black cover of the **** (between the boot and the **** itself).
I've been reading up in Sikaflex and I agree....I'm not sure I want that to be permanent, especially since I'm taking out my armrest soon and putting the normal console in. Looks like I'll try some electrical tape wrapped over the metal skeleton. I have to say...I'm a bit disappointed that an OEM part gets glued on.

I recently installed the same parts. I put the e brake handle on with some 5 min epoxy. Just use a light little coat. It will hold good enough. Just to test it I tried to twist real hard after it was on for a couple of days, the epoxy did break and the handle came free. I would not say that the epoxy will make it permanent.
These parts look and feel very sweet.
Enjoy.

thanks for the feedback. I spiral wrapped the handle with 3M Super33+ this morning before putting the JCW piece back on. Not 100% solid, but it'll do for the immediate future (I also need to ziptie the boot). I'm still waiting on the local dealer to give me the OEM center console parts back so I can pull out the armrest. Once that's all done, I'll use a more solid fix. I've got some black silicone sealant, but it takes a day to cure and stinks. Seems the Sikaflex is more immediate and no odor (but $20/shipped for a tub when I need only a dab).

The boot is just tie-wrapped to the back end of the handle. You just pull the boot inside out, shove the handle up inside where you need it, tie-wrap the boot to a "lip" on the end of the handle, then pull everything right-side-out again
I know that sounded kinda dirty, but did it make sense?

For those wanting to remove the logo, is it a decal on top of the clear coat? if so easy answer if not then it is going to be under the gel coat and that will be very difficult to get off, the only way I see that happening is either taking both ***** to a CF maker and having them make a replica of it in all CF. Any other ideas that people have I am open to hearing them as I want a CF handle and **** but cannot find one without some sort of logo. Ahhhh dang marketing.

Ok, for someone that is *thinking* about purchasing the JCW shift ****, how does it compare in feel and usability while driving? I'm pretty used to my stock round OEM 6-spd one now, but I every time I jump into and drive my Audi S6 the shaped leather **** feels and fits better. Give me some real world notes guys... TIA.

I just this JCW handle and alcantara e-brake boot myself and going to install this weekend.
Im going to go the electrical tape route for now, and see how that holds up. If it comes loose with time, i will try a dab or 2 of expoxy. Best of all, now it matches my CF ring and alcantara shift boot
