Got the link to this japanese site from Bridger http://bridger.us/mini/

Nice red interior- I'm jealous, got to make a trip to Japan
http://www.gut-mini.com/

Check out these interior parts
http://www.gut-mini.com/04shop.html

Wow- not sure they can all fit (they are right driver dash boards) but I wish we could get these.

For the full interior
http://www.gut-mini.com/campain1/campain1.html
17 elements to the total upgrade on sale for 330,000 yen or $ 2742 (using 120.34 yen to the US dollar) A bit pricey.

try clicking on the chrome, wood or carbon links in the upper right corner.
Gives you ideas doesn't it?

I'm not certain they will ship to the US but I did see a VISA logo.

Interesting site. The red and/or wood interiors tend to turn my stomach this early in the morning, but there are some interesting ideas to consider. Let us know if you do any ordering.

When I get my Mini Back, I think I'm going to remove the dash and have them electro-plated... it's cheaper than buying the kits!

I'd be all over that red gearshift boot if it was available for a reasonable price.

I was looking at the dash kits that adhere to the dash, but IMO they don't cut it. Then, when I found out about the actual wood interior available outside the US I was excited that there is a nice one but disappointed that it's not available here. I'm starting to save for the off chance that it will become available here in the future (maybe I'll have enough saved up by then).

As with electronics if you want to see the stuff that we'll have next year - check out the Japanese market. That being said I'm sure any any reseller in the states could easily find the manufacturers of these peices and begin importing them. It's really not that hard.

So much of the stuff I see from the US companies (especially the inerior mods) look very poorly designed in comparison. I think there is a real need for well crafted, smartly designed products for the MINI market in the US.

Dear Mikehome1-
A "pocket rocket- not a pocket pimp mobile"- great line Hilarious

I posted the link because it makes up appreciate the wide variety of options. I thought that site was super heavy in upgrades based on appearance- when you check the performance mods it was much more reserve- they would be drooling about our upgrade sites and options. This is interesting from a cultural point of view as well. The Japanese market for upgrades may be heavy biased towards appearance upgrades of high quality but at high prices. Did you see the prices? Do the math, today the exchange rate is about 120 yen to a dollar. You need some bucks to do these upgrades and they sell everything by the part not really as sets.

As for ordering, shipping would be a problem. They may not even allow it if there are hassles they don't want to deal with. I can tell you that living in Hawaii it cost me an extra high premium to have anything sent to me that is bought over the internet. Shipping is a killer. My motto is "please ship to me the cheapest possible way" which for many companies translates into "ship by 2 day Air". No thanks. Sometimes the shipping cost is as much as the item if it is heavy.

I agree with Gabe that the japanese market will show options that will lead the trend for future consumer goods. Even if the cooper is a european design. It is a world wide car more or less. And thanks Gabe for your website- well done and on my favorites list.

I hope companies in the US will see that there is a market for these products and make the effort to carry them. Seems like there is a significant amount of interest. I myself was impressed with the high quality of the products in general. Typically Japanese. Nice. Very tempting. Maybe worth a trip to go and see them.

OOOH. I will be heading to Germany in June to visit my father. Might have to order some goodies to bring back!

It is unfortunate that so much of the "Good Stuff" is not available to the US market.

I can chrome your dash pieces and door ovals etc...

I'm planning on doing this soon and am getting quotes...
we'll see what the cost is... maybe I'll just order some replacement pieces for chroming and keep the originals....

Anyone interested? It's not cheap, but it's cheaper than ording a new chrome dash I'm sure.

Hey Mighty, I was going to do the same thing just when I got my mini (Oct 02) but couldn't find any place that'd do it. Most Bike shops will only chrome metal, and to chrome plastic you need to first paint them with conductive solution, and that scared me, because it's better be a very good painting job, otherwise the chrome will be rough or bubbly, etc. If you can find a reputable place that'll do it well, definetly let me know.

Well, you never REALLY could chrome plastic traditionally... which meant it would be dipped in copper, nickle, then chrome..... would KILL the plastic.

BUT Electroplating is possible and works.... we do it for films. Looks great too!

I got a rough estimate for a full Interior Plastic replacement.... from dealer... it's over $300 for everything....

add the chroming... which depends on batch load not piece and the more per load the less expensive the product.

I can see a full interior chrome kit retailing for around $700.00 and that is a great price. Seeing that just applicated Chrome ring sets can = a car payment or so.

I didn't see the colored guages on there. I would really love to get those.
Bring some color to the interior.
I'm aslo currious about the side and bumper skirts. I would like to see a better picture of them. Just adding that little front colored piece did so much. If it is cheaper than an entire front piece from the aero kit, I am going to get one.

There has to be a reseller somewhere in the US.

I found a place that will chrome plastic, I am sending them a test piece tomorrow (got an anthracite side vent piece from dealer) . They only do large batches however and they have a minimum order requirement. If this piece come out good, would anyone wanna do a group buy? I'm thinking 10-20 people.

PM or email david@tentonn.com

Once I get the piece back, I'll post detailed pics and description etc.
