Those who have LED lights...

I installed LED parking and brake lights this past summer. Now recently I have noticed that the passenger side lights started flickering ever so slightly. Not both sides just the passenger ones. My first thought is that the LEDs went bad, but I swapped the brake lights from left to right and they are still doing it. Now it only happens when the car is running. When it is off the lights are steadly lit. Also the brake light only does it when the brakes are not applied, once you apply the brakes the flickering stops. I might add that I have the rear fog light mod done to my car. This is really bothering me because I have no idea what is causing it. The only recent additions to my car is the engine damper and a new set of brakes. So I was wondering if anyone else with LED lights has this flickering, or if anyone knows how to fix it.

Try running a resister with the LED's. I know some of the guys having issues with flickering lights in the cabin after replacing one or more lights with LED's installed a resistor and all seems well. Other than that, I'm fairly electrically challenged!

Try putting a 1K ohm resistor (radioshack) across from the hot to ground on the light circuit... that should stop the flickering when the lights aren't even supposed to be lit and it won't hurt anything when the light is supposed to be lit.

I appreciate the link. Is there a particular part that you ordered to fit our MINIs so well? I also have a 528iT that I would like to give the LED treatment.

I couldn't help you with that. I have an '03 and the tail light configuration is different. I used the 1156 and 1157 is orange and red. 1157 is dual contact and 1156 is single. You just have to match up your bulbs and determine what color it is.......On the BMW the tails and sides should be the same BUT DON'T QUOTE ME ON THAT I am gonna swap the Mini's lights in and see. I think I used 1156 RED, 1156 ORANGE, 1157 RED. Note: I have the top rear fog light. The whole setup cost about $125 for 6 lights.

The resistor cleared things right up. It's good to know that there are people with more electrical knowledge than me out there.
