These are the ones shown on the AT site at $95. I recall recently someone (MSFITOY possibly?) saying they bought this one on eBay awhile ago for just under $40. Now it is there for $42.95 (+ S/H).

There have been some ones on eBay at a similar price, but they were not by AT and had a warning that they were just decorative and not to be used to tow. This one says it is the real AT one (and the PAYPAL receipt comes from AT too) and that it meets all the racing standards. It is actually for a BMW, but it fits the Mini, supposedly, as the Mini has the BMW's tow hole specs. Anyone know different?

I sent them an email a while back but ... crickets, no response.
And there is no phone number to call listed at their website, either.

 

Funny, as I wrote the prior eBay seller that was selling the decorative tow hooks and they also did not reply. In fact, the few times I thought about buying something on eBay and wrote the seller, I cannot EVER recall getting any answers, which is just one reason I think eBay is mostly a losers marketplace. I hope to be wrong on this one though, especially since the seller appears to be AT or at least an affiliate of it. We'll see.

Gee, the other tow hook threads always got lots of comments going. Maybe tow hooks are out of season.

 

I bought the red one and the color faded in under a month. I am now using the OE one with red Plastidip.

I want the silver anyway, but it seems they are only selling the red. I just want to be sure this is the real deal and based on the advertisement it is NOT the decorative ONLY one.

I just received my hook from aphase. Whether or not it's the real deal? I don't know what the real deal looks like. Even if I did, I would have to take the manufacturers word for it that it meets the specs for the intended application.

As far as looks with no regard to performance. I think the hook looks good. Just like in the ebay pics. Only downside to the whole process was that it took 12 days to receive the product. It was sent priority mail. I don't know if the screw-up was on aphases end or the USPS. I gave aphase the benefit of the doubt and gave the transaction a positive. On a good note, aphase was responsive to my emails.
