Removing rear windshield wiper

After a day or so, dirt and other stuff begin to pile up on the rear windshield wiper blade, so when I need to wash my window it just smears all the crap all over my rear windshield making it even worse and it seems like its just scraping the window almost . So I'm thinking of just removing the wiper and engine. Has anyone else tried this before? Will I need anything to remove this?

I did it. No big deal. You need a 1 1/8th" (I think! Could be 1 1/4") plug and some aquarium grade clear silicon. I think I got my stuff at Ace Hardware.

I did it about 3 years ago and never looked back. Lots of compliments on the cleaner look of the rear of the car. I have also used the rear fluid system to power my intercooler sprayer. I suppose the loss of another few pounds would be another bonus to some degree. You can always put it back if necessary.

I did it last week and took about 20 mins. I found all the plugs and Lowes in the nut and bolt drawer section. I used the rear sprayer to spray water on my aftercooler. I think the car looks much cleaner and I do have less dust on the rear glass. When I sell the car I will reinstall the rear seats and wiper.

Just search for "no wiper"

Ask gandini how he likes it.
I've seen it done on MINIs in my area and it's fine.

i dont know, i just took my car in for its first maintence (the big 10k scheduled one) and i got a MCS convertable, and it started raining here today, and i miss having the rear wiper cause i cant wipe off the rear window. It does look alot cleaner but i like having that wiper there.

Funny, I have a cabrio, and when I had it in for service for a few days I had a loaner coupe and kinda liked having the rear wiper. But it's no big deal living without it. Just apply some AquaPel or Rain-X to the rear window. That'll help.

I like it. Looks like I'll be taking mine off as well. Any tips on plugging up the washer tube or unplugging the wiper motor?

I just use a 1" black plug with silicon. I think 1 1/16" would be perfect but I couldn't find it.

I keep an assortment of vacuum line caps. I just found the smallest one that would fit over the line real tight, then for extra insurance, I put a zip tie around it and pulled tightly. No problems.

Another inspiring post

I just picked up some plugs at ACE (7/8, 1, 1 1/8)

I really like the clean look and my wiper is disconected & washer is being used for the IC.

Why didn't I think of this ???

I might just go and do it now in the dark and cold...
OK ... tomorrow for sure !
