Anyone have stock MC bonnet stripes on MCS?

I currently have the stock black bonnet stripes with the white edges on my Cooper S, but I want just plain black bonnet stripes.

So here's my question: can I have the dealer install the stock black Cooper bonnet stripes on my Cooper S?

Has anyone out there in cyberland had this same proceedure done by your dealership? If so, how much did it cost you?

(I'm not looking at aftermarket vinyl vendors at this point, I just would like to know about the MINI dealerships first).

THANKS!

I had the stock stripes on my car for a while. I had a friend do the installation for me(and it only took him about 5 minutes) because the dealer wanted $221 to install the stripes. (My opinion is that is a bunch of BS!)

I have since replaced them with aftermarket stripes I installed myself. If you want the OEM stripes, you may want to buy them from the dealer and check on doing the install yourself, or finding someone to install them for you.

The MC hood is slightly diffrent in shape than the MCS, the factory stripe wont lay the same. aftermarket is your only option I believe.....Unless you plan on doing the stripes yourself, concider getting them painted on. From what I have seen people pay to have vinyl installed you could pay a little more and get them painted on so they are the real deal. It is easy for a shop to mask the hood and shoot the stripes since you dont want the edging and just want a solid stripe

i just snipped off the white borders on mine.

www.outmotoring.com has black ones for a great deal.

the factory cooper stripes do not fit the cooper-s.

Actually, I would TOTALLY prefer having black stripes painted on the bonnet, versus using vinyl, but I thought it would be much more expensive to do that.

Does anyone have painted bonnet stripes out there? If so, how much did it cost to do so?

The guy I talked to about it said they charged him about $200....prices will vary wildly depending on how much you are willing to pay for a pretty building that the work is done in. Find out when they are going to be painting a black car and arrange for them to paint your stripes at the same time

how about putting on some of this stuff?

http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=20264

it's black and you can peel it off if you notice that you suck at
painting.

If you have a good vinyl graphics shop in your area, they can make them and install them at a fraction of the cost of the dealer. And they'll probably be higher quality.

They could pull off your old stripes as a template--it would be very easy to do, and you should be able to get exactly what you want.
