Contrasting Skirts and Arches

My Winter MINI project is now complete. I removed all the wheel arches and side skirts and painted them a gloss white to match my roof. I sanded and painted all the pieces but hit a wall when it came to figuring out how to properly do the clear coat on the pieces...so I broke down and took them to an auto body shop who put on the top coat. Let me know what you guys think.

Looks neat! May we see a 3/4 front view when you get a chance?

Great idea!

MMatarella - I'll work on getting the 3/4 front view during my lunch break.

The whole thing set me back just over $300--$200 for top coat of paint, $25 dollars in replacement clips, and $80 for replacement sill plates.

Lookin good I can't tell by the angle but do you have smoked arch lenses? If so, You might try clears to add to the white contrast affect. and get stealth bulbs for them.

P.S. If those are smoked and you decide to get clears you can sell me the smoked ones. If that is what they are.

Which arches are you interested in? I can get a photo of it later and post it if you let me know. (Good thing I brought the camera in today!)

I like the way you think. Yes they are smoked lenses, I originally wanted clear but I got snookered by some crafty wordmanship and a shiny picture. So if you get the clear ones I'd gladly swap the smoke ones with you

Looks unique , may be the sunlight, seems the white is very bright when matching with the green.

Qwertmoneky, where did you get that flash drive in a MINI? Home made?

A couple more Pics

I was able to sneak out during lunch and grab a couple of quick shots of the new mod.

Sorry for the dirty wheels...but stock brakes are killers for brake dust.

I agree that the smoke ones are hampering the look of the white pieces. I will be on the lookout for some clear side marker lenses.

Stunning! I'd prefer to leave the front bumper alone though, too much contrast to my taste.
What paint did you use? If you'd do it over again, would you prefer to have all the sanding & painting job done by a shop?

If I had to do it all over again would I......OH HELL YEAH. It was really something I wanted but didn't want to pay through the nose for. I know I could have sent it out for someone else to do, but really it wasn't THAT bad. I found the worst thing was sanding down the texture on the side skirts as they have more curves than the other pieces.

I didn't see where you got these or did you make them your self? I'm considering going with a PW/PW as my next MINI but love the white verse black around wheel wells and sides. Have you DIY'd the process if you did these yourself? If not do you have the info on where to get them?
