Interior/Exterior Painted Interior Part I
Painted Interior Part I
I just got finished with the first stage of painting my interior. Will continue working on it on Tuesday.
Tuesday - Re-paint dash panels in black (this time doing a much better job)
Wednesday - Paint Downtubes...this is where I need help. Do you guys think I should paint the downtubes red or black? I am still undecided. Also, do you think I should paint the speedometer trim above the steering wheel?

If you go red with the shift boot ring and cup holder rings, then black downtubes. Metallic black would be even more unique (downtubes and dash)

Finished up a few hours ago. I was able to re-paint the dash black (did not turn out nearly as nice as I wanted it too - more on that later), and painted some of the other parts that I wanted red.
Tommorow or Thursday, I will be finishing up painting the downtubes black, and painting the door panels. I will paint the "Y" part of the door panel red, and the outer trim, black.

. If only that ad wasn't cut from TV.Ok, seriously though. So, I repainted the dash black, and I am still not satisfied. It does not have that really glossy look I am looking for such as on the piano black dash, or even like what this guy did: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t=painted+dash" .
Anyone have any tips/ideas? Mine still remains dull and flat, no matter what I do.

I might paint the speaker rings black when I paint the door panels. As for the MFSW, I do not think I want to mess with taking apart the steering wheel to get the pieces out, so for right now, that stays how it is :D .

Yes, I did use clear coat. But, now after reading very detailed instructions on the site I bought the paint from, it says to let everything sit for three days. So I guess that was problem.
The tach ring comes off really easily. There are two screws behind it that connect it to the steering wheel which you take out (they have torx heads). Then, on the back on the tach, one you remove it an unplug it, there are two more screws with phillips heads. Remove these, and then begin gently prying the pieces away, by first depressing the two white clips on the bottom on the tachometer (you may have to remove the white sticker first). After you get it split into halves, there are maybe 4 or 5 square metal clips that very easily come off on the outer edges to remove the outer tachometer ring. Voila!

Hmm, the speedometer ring, as far as I know, should just pull straight off. I am just assuming this based on the fact that my navigation ring just pulls straight off. I am not sure about this as I do not have the big speedometer.
I got the handbrake and shifter boot from http://www.redlinegoods.com/
They have the best of the best. The leather is very high quality, and smells great

Yes, I sprayed everything myself. Besides taking 12 hours (including having to wait for stuff to dry), it was fairly easy. I first tried some automotive paint that I got from www.paintscratch.com but it was not bonding correctly to the plastic for some reason, so I went to the hardware store and used some stuff that bonds to plastic. I then did a few coats of clearcoat. I immediately followed it with some rubbing compound, which kind of screwed up my dash panels since I was supposed to wait three days. But, overall, I'd say the process is fairly painless
