Interior/Exterior Rear fog how-to
I see most people are doing the brake light mod, but I wanted a regular rear fog, after driving through heavy fog and seeing how effective they really are on other cars.

I took out the whole taillight assembly. Easy enough, just take out one 10mm nut behind the side panel in the boot, and unclip the opposite side. The wire for the rear fog is yellow w/a brown stripe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I also found this wire in the harness that runs along the driver's side. I verified by checking for 12 volts on this wire while I jumped the wire in the rear w/12 volts.
I tapped into this wire and hooked it to terminal #30 of a relay.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next, I wanted the rear fog to only work if the front ones were on. I ran a wire from the fog light relay under the hood. The terminal shown (top left terminal) shows ground when you turn on the front fogs. note: the center terminal (the vertical one on the left) is the output of the relay and shows 12 volts when the front fogs are on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just stuck the wire in the hole and plugged the relay back in.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I ran the wire through a rubber grommet into the interior.
This wire went to terminal #85 of the relay. Terminal #85 can also be hooked to ground if you want the rear fog to come on whether the front fogs are on or off.
Terminal #86 of the relay went to my switch. The other side of the switch went to 12 volts which I grabbed from the heavy red wire in the steering column harness. My switch is lighted, so there was another wire on the switch that needed to go to ground.
Terminal #87 on the relay went to 12 volts. I used the same wire I connected the switch to in the steering column harness.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the switch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And here is the finished product.

how did u wire it to the switch, im confused? where do u live, mayb u can come do it to my mini....
also, i wouldnt be able to put the switch their, i have an interior storage thing. is there anyway to use an extra toggle switch or put it somewhere else?? also, why is only the driver side fog-light on, the other one isnt on in the picture????
its seem like a great idea to have all the lights u can on such a tiny car

In short, the switch is wired to the relay which is connected to the light. I did only one light because I thought that was the way MINI did it, but i found out that they both do light up, so I will just run a wire from the left side light to the right side light.
To simplify the relay wiring:
#30 goes to your fog light(s)
#87 goes to 12 volts
#85 goes to the terminal on the factory fog relay pictured above (or just ground)
#86 goes to your switch (any switch will do, just make sure the other side of the switch is connected to 12 volts)

That's great, now if we can only come up with a way to wire it into the new euro switch block we'll be all set. Any thoughts on that as a possibility?
