Looking for the parcel shelf

I'm looking for a good price on the parcel shelf. I did a google search, looked around the board here.. but the lowest I've found is $80 (gee.. I can't remember where I saw that..)
I've got my aux input. I'm not going to attempt the install til I have my shelf.
Does anyone know of a lower price anywhere?

Thanks!

Just got one from Classic Mini in Ohio, $76 incld. shipping to NJ. Call the parts department and tell them you're a NAM member. They're a NAM vendor.

If you don't get the rather expensive shelf liner, then the price goes down dramatically. All the parts you need are the shelf itself and the following:

Blind Plate P/N 51 45 7 072 009

Screw P/N 07 13 6 822 957 (X2)

Plastic Nut P/N 07 13 1 472 727 (X2)

MINI of Sterling gave me a price quote of $36.26 a couple of months ago (plus shipping I think).

You can download a template to make your own liner here:

MrV..

this is great! Are you sure it's from mini of sterling? I'm going to give them a call.

If you skip the admittedly expensive heavy rubber pad, you're definitely going to want something on top of the shelf to increase friction and stop stuff from rattling and flying around. A few layers of thick felt might work well.

What I used was that mesh-rubber shelf liner stuff. Works great. Stuff does NOT slip.

This is the stuff.

Just use the template that I posted above. Fits perfect. You do have to tape it down to the shelf using some sort of adhesive tape.

And Celia, I am positive that it was from Sterling. But you may want to ask your local MINI dealer how much for the parts vs. the shipping from Sterling. You may come out ahead.

Yep, the OEM rubber pad is $30 by itself. A bit strange that it is almost the same cost as the shelf itself!

If you're lazy, you can get a 'shelf liner thingy' from 'Uncle John' for $2 plus shipping - he's already cut out the proper shape.
As a matter of fact, you can get one from me - after I got mine from Uncle John I got a screamin' deal on the complete OEM shelf.
I used the same for two friends, and I've yet to hear a complaint!

Now that's funny. I had no idea that "Uncle John" was shipping these out.

He's a Good guy.

I had no idea that I was undermining his business by posting the template.

I wouldn't fret Jay.

Then again, if there's a knock on your door in the middle of the night, I wouldn't answer it.

Being the cheap skate that I am I was thnking about the tool box liner stuff. Coushy, Gripy, and kinda simulates the carbon fiber look if you get it in black. Very inexpensive at hardware stores.

You guys are great, thanks.
Jay, I've already PM'd my dealer- I picked up some mats and the aux connector on friday. I forgot that I wanted the shelf to put the connector in.
I sent him our convo, I'm hoping he can match it and I can pick it up during the week.

Thank you all again! I'll let you know!

OEM Rubber Pad

What is the part number for the "over-priced" OEM pad?
Thanks,

I installed the Aux myself, - the tech who gave me the part asked me twice.. "are you sure you want to do this yourself?"- pffft. He told me to hold on while he printed out instructions.
The hardest part was going through my allen wrenches to see which sizes I needed. I installed it in 10 minutes.(without the shelf)
I'm waiting for Barry to get back to me.. I think he said he was headed to Vegas. It may be a wait, but at least I'm listening to my tunage off my Treo 600!

Thanks for all the references, guys!
