Interior/Exterior Rear wiper removal “how to”.
Rear wiper removal “how to”.
OK............... I finally got the wiper arm off and thought that I would save others who are contemplating this mod some grief.
First you need to remove the wiper arm, sounds easy but could be a pain. Flip the plastic cap up to reveal the wiper arm 12-mm mounting nut. Remove the nut, and with a pair of pliers, carefully remove the spray nozzle tip, which just pops out.
Now (from my experience) the arm should just pull straight off the shaft, but it would not budge. So spray some penetrating oil (preferred) or WD-40 on the shaft and head to Pep Boys to pick-up a $4 puller. Now you will need to put some load on the puller to break the bond between the shaft and arm.
From the inside, remove the 6-each Phillips head screws and them pry the panel off, as it is held on by plastic tabs. Once this is accomplished, disconnect the electrical connection and water hose, and remove the motor. Will post a photo and info of the window plug............ once I find something to fit.
Photo 1 is what the shaft looks like with the arm still attached.
Photo 2 is the arm removed.
Photo 3 is the pulley, spray nozzle, nut, and arm.
Photo 4 is the motor inside the hatch.

Are you gonna shave it? If so, let me know where you found the plug, a few of the people on my team have shaved ours, but have just been using random plugs found at hardware stores.
a picture of one of their plugs :

And the another one (samtrak):

I thought the technical term was "Booty Wipe"

which yo won't be able to do since removing your wiper...the boot gets awfully dirty especially in the rain
I saw one thread where a guy put his vertical...I don't know how it functions at that position

It's a rather common mod amongst euro hatches to achieve that smooth/shaved look. I know that mine personally didnt help whatsoever, so i wont miss it.
Here is a comparison between two of the TMMZ cars (it's from the GOmini photoshoot, so it may look familiar).
Notice how much smoother and how much less distracting the boot looks on the silver car without the wiper installed.

true, it looks great!...however, in Florida where it rains quite a bit, I can't imagine not having it
After a 1/4 mile you can't see ANYTHING out the rear not to mention compounding with the dirt that normally accumulates

Although you could install it again when the rainy season starts up or winter comes around.

You could ask samtrak about that. I dont know what plug he is using.
Post the question in his thread, he checks it rather often.

You still have quite a bit of ways to go before you catch up to him. His car is fully custom and has tons of engine+bodywork put into it....its amazing
Sorry, I am a little slow is this picture show the puller ?? To the left?
Cool mod!! And if you can not see out the back you either don't wash your car enough or got tinted windows that are dark enough

I thought maybe this was a prelude to some mod of the wiper, maybe to get a better spring on there so it wipes more effectively. I did not realize the mod was to remove the wiper and that is it.
Not my cup of tea, but it is a clean look, thats for sure.

Apparently I'm retarded because I've followed the instructions (including penetrating oil and the smallest gear puller i could find) and have completely destroyed the wiper shaft. I do have an R56, and everyone else doing this mod seems to have an R53, but everything looks identical to the above pic, so it should come off the same. Has anyone experienced this?
Right now I'm basically standing at the point of no return and the next step seems to be breaking out the hack saw, which I really don't want to do. Has anyone else found another approach to removing the wiper/motor?
